Re: Vizio M70-C3 Dark Spots
Thanks again guys, it just torks me because I was very methodical, labeled everything, etc, took special care of the screen. Seemed to be a crack in the lower left hand corner, almost the size of a thumb so maybe a grabbed it here too hard? idk could I have not have it centered perfectly and tighten down the bezel inappropriately? Perhaps I will never know the real reason it cracked. Anyway, in hind site, like Budm said, maybe a dark spot or two better than no darks spots? Well....I tried my best and learned alot, maybe I should look at it as a 6 hour...

Re: Vizio M70-C3 Dark Spots
just when things were going so well, got the new LED's installed, powered up and all good. I put everything back together and fired it up and no joy, left side of screen was all white and the other side had a picture. So my first thought was the 4 ribbon connectors, so took apart again, re-seated them and put back together. Hung on the wall and fired up again, bottom left corner, screen cracked, wont power up, Game Over! sigh...appreciated all the help guys!

Great, thank you. no, plug it in and turn on the power but no LED's, but if all the ribbons and IF filter, etc, etc are disconnected , how does it get the signal?...

Re: Vizio M70-C3 Dark Spots
OK Guys, I have decided to tear it down and look at the LED's. And now for perhaps the dumbest question ever. I would like to plug in and look at the LED's for which ones may be bad. I plugged in, but how do I get them to light up?..sigh...

Re: Vizio M70-C3 Dark Spots
OK, turned out the lights in the room and reduced the backlight to zero for 30 minutes. While watching, all dark spots are still noticable . Slowly increased the backlight from zero to 55, checking for spots while doing so and they remain on the screen...

Re: Vizio M70-C3 Dark Spots
Hello Diah, I restored the factory defaults and picture still the same. Next, I copied the black and white jpg's to a thumb drive and played them on a slide show for a couple minutes. I could always see the shadows when the white screen played.
Is that the tests you are asking for?
thank you,
Kent...

Re: Vizio M70-C3 Dark Spots
HI Guys, thank you very much for the great feedback, much appreciated! Appears I should focus on a couple areas, LED's and the local dimming aspect of the TV.
I think a good place to start is where BudM recommends, take off the back of the TV and snap some shots of the entire back, then of each board up close. I'll try and get a peek at the LED's as well without tearing the whole thing down. I have watched and studied several YouTube video, including ShopJimmy.com of replacing LED's on a 70 inch TV and not ready to jump there yet. :-)

Vizio M70-C3 Dark Spots
Hello, brand new to the site and hoping I can learn what may be going on with my TV. The TV is working just fine, however, when a screen shot of white clouds came on the other day, I noticed several dark areas as shown in my attachment. My first guess was maybe an LED issue, but then I though I should research a bit more.
Like I said, brand new to the site, pretty technical and not afraid to take things apart and repair, cars, PC's, etc.
Can someone please steer me in the correct direction?
much thanks,
Kent...
