Re: Pioneer VSX-405
It took me longer to get to this, but I wanted to report on the progress. I opened it up, and looked for obvious bad joints or burn marks. Not finding any, I took my spray flux cleaner and a toothbrush, and cleaned all the circuit boards. There was a lot of dirt in there. I put it back together, hooked it up and IT WORKS! Thanks for all the advise. I love this site.

Pioneer VSX-405
This is an older home theater receiver that I was using in my studio with a cd player. It was working fine until I disconnected it when I moved my studio. It sat for months, and now when I hooked it back up, the front speakers do not work. There is output in the rear, but not the front. All speakers are good, wiring hookup is correct. Someone told me that by sitting a capacitor could go bad. If so, does anyone know which capacitor would be bad?
Thanks

Re: Toshiba satellite a105 with no display
Ok, started to open the laptop. Wow, the ribbon connectors are sure short. Is there any reasonably easy way to detach and reattach? It looks like reattaching will be the worst. I will take pictures and post when it is fully open.

Re: Toshiba satellite a105 with no display
Thanks. I will do that. I just like the idea I get from this board, that not everything has to be thrown out , or large components replaced for a .30 item! Less expenditure, and less in the landfill. It will take me awhile to take it apart, but I will post pics. My model #is #PSAA8U-0FH02K and the ser# is y6242926q

Re: Toshiba satellite a105 with no display
Just another thought. First off, I have been reading some faq's and posts, and while a lot of it is over my head, I really like and appreciate this site. Is there a way to know if my motherboard would benefit/repair itself with recapping, or am I still better off to look for a new motherboard?

Re: Toshiba satellite a105 with no display
Thanks. Tried the flashlight, nothing. Stopped in to bestbuy where I bought it, and geek squad said probably the motherboard, and since computer is 4 years old, he said it was too expensive to fix. I would like opinions from here.
Thanks

Toshiba satellite a105 with no display
Ok, hope this is correct.
Hi, I was using the laptop Tuesday evening, and left it on and open. Wednesday showed only a black screen. I have tried power on and off, and get the first three led's lit, it sounds like it wants to boot, but then nothing on the screen. I have tried without the battery, without the ac cord, and also hooked it up to an external monitor and rebooted, but nothing. Toshiba said it is a hardware issue, not in warranty, and $175 minimum to look at it. Is there anything that I can check first?
Thanks,
niki1

As I said, I am new here. Did I post this in the wrong place? If so, I apologize.

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
Thanks! I did open it up, and from what I can see, it is a 35v, so I will go to digi key and order, and let you know.
Thanks,

Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
Hi, I am new here, and from the looks of it glad I found this site! I have a 10 year old Jenn air convection oven model ww27430p that has the display going from dim to black, yet everything else works. It sounds like the same problem. Are the caps marked, or how do I verify that my c3 is the same?
Thanks
Niki1, also sick of replcacing whole boards for .30 item!
