Re: LG 55LF6000 panel or T-Conn
It's a friend's TV and he said it was fine before the backlights went out and when I first looked at it I could make out the input symbol in the top corner with a flashlight and I didn't notice anything wrong with the picture. I suppose that means something happened while doing the backlight repair ...

LG 55LF6000 panel or T-Conn
Hello,
Just finished replacing all 10 backlights on this LG and hooked the panel back up and now I'm worried It has a damaged panel.
There is no physical damage that I can see on the panel, ribbons or panel boards. And reseating the ribbon cables to the t-conn or flexing the panel ribbons have no effect on the display.
I have attached a photos of the display under different conditions.
The photo with the solid back bar at the bottom is turned on with everything connected.
The photo with the Whited out 4 quadrants is with...

Re: Sony KDL-52Z5100 power relay clicks 4 times then standby blinks 10 times
Yes this one does use a D4N and D3N, I'm pretty sure I tested with both of them disconnected and it still clicked but I will recheck that.
The PFC-OUT & PRI-VCC on both boards are at the correct values.
Yes it does use the APS-247(CH) power supply.

Re: Sony KDL-52Z5100 power relay clicks 4 times then standby blinks 10 times
I unplugged the main board from the power board and jumpered "standby" pin to "power on" pin to turn on the relay but got no backlight activity. I then tried plugging the main board back in and unplugging the D4N board and the tv still did the power cycling and blink code.
Any ideas what I could try next to find the problem?

Sony KDL-52Z5100 power relay clicks 4 times then standby blinks 10 times
Hello,
Troubleshooting a Sony KDL-52Z5100 and when you plug it in the power relay clicks on and off 4 times and then stays off and the standby light blinks in groups of 10 repeatedly.
I checked the standby voltage going to the main board and it stays consistent at 3.3v the whole time.
The other voltages coming from the main power board all match their written values.
The "power on" connection coming from the main board to the power board changes between 3.3v and 0v while the relay is clicking.
The issue also occurs when only...

Re: Ordering SMD LED for backlight
agreed but Diah seemed so sure he was correct :P also without working LED's would it be safe to jumper over the burnt out ones to get the rest powered in order to measure?

Re: Ordering SMD LED for backlight
yes it is 2.9v on original ones and just under 6v on the test ones

Yes it is bright and I put the screen back on to check how much a difference the color made and it has great picture minus the yellow spots

Re: Ordering SMD LED for backlight
Hey Budm thanks for all the help, My meter in diode mode shows nothing (.0L) and it only lights the LED's up very faintly.
The LED power connections are the two on the top right.
I have some 6v LED's in just to get it going to test. measuring the LED's while everything is on I get 2.9v on all of the original LED's.
The 6v that I have in are 5000k color temp but appear very yellow next to the originals which look very blue, What color temp are backlight LED's usually?

Re: Ordering SMD LED for backlight
Measured the voltage with the bad LEDs in place as they are failed open. And the only voltage chart is for the main board power connector this brand seems bad with their marking and obviously their engineering as the tv is not very old. I'm planning to just replace the two burnt out LEDs and apply thermal paste to the back of the strips to help transfer the heat better to the back panel of the tv.

Re: Ordering SMD LED for backlight
I measured the voltage on the LED connector on the power board and am getting 252V so drop across all 50 LEDs would be about 5v each. Diah is correct in his answer of 4.7V or 6V LED's I believe.

How do you know it is a 6V?

Re: Ordering SMD LED for backlight
Okay so size is 3mmx3mm, large pad is - small pad is +. As for current or voltage there is nothing printed on any of the LED strips for it and there is nothing I can see on the power board that indicates either value....Last edited by Mcologist; 01-30-2019, 11:57 AM.

Ordering SMD LED for backlight
Hello,
I am currently working on a Haier 55UFC2500b that has two backlight LED's out.
my question is does anyone know of a model number to order individual SMD LED's that works on most backlight strips? I have it narrowed down to 3001 results on digikey.ca based of Physical dimension alone.
Thanks!

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hello,
I have a Electronic Common Core Technician Certificate and have been working in electronics for the past several years but never had a position doing board level repair. For monitors and TV's I have mostly just fixed bad Caps but would like to learn more about diagnosing TV's so I can have a higher success rate.
