Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi to one and all.
Name is Darick and all my life I lived in Seattle Washington. I decided to become a member of Badcaps to learn and have fun. My first OS was Unix. My main hobby is programing in C++ and collecting UHF 2 way radios. I'm new to repairing display monitors and not much soldering experience. There has been times when I make problems worse. The knowledge that I have now is all self taught from reading books, experimenting, trial and error and accidents. I'm behind on a lot of projects.

Re: IBM 13R8930 - 4 beeps of doom?
It sounds like you have more gigs of RAM then your motherboard can handle, or the problem could be that the RAM plugged in does not match when paired up. Depends if you have 2 or 4 dimm slots. If 2 then make sure the gigs match. Same with 4.
For example of 4 dimm slots: The 2 on the left would match to 2GB each, and the right would be 1GB each.
I hope that helps.
