I have an old Geforce2 GTS that shows horizontal streaks in its VGA output, and bad colors. It basically shows gray where there should be white, and dark gray ghosting stripes across the screen from text in open windows. Also the color saturation seem wildly inconsistent. I attached a photo of how it looks.
Any ideas of what can be causing this? Damaged GPU? Or maybe some discrete components on the VGA output path that I can replace? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth attempting to fix this....

Re: Identify missing capacitor on Voodoo2
Thanks. In this case I'm fairly certain that the capacitor should be there. The solder pads look like it was torn off, they're not smooth and shiny. I also have a second Voodoo2, and C65 is present on it.

Identify missing capacitor on Voodoo2
Hey all,
I have a 3dfx Voodoo2 graphics card that is missing a small cylindrical SMD capacitor (C65 in the attached photo, circled in red). I'm pretty sure it should be the same as all the other cylindrical capacitors on the card, which read these values on 3 rows: 10 / 16S / 8F8.
Anyone know what these values mean, and what kind of replacement capacitor I should get? The capacitors are about 3.9mm in diameter, and 5.45mm tall....

Geforce 6800gt VGA missing red output signal
I have a Geforce 6800gt that is not outputting any red signal to the analog VGA connector, and everything is a shade of cyan. The card otherwise works fine, and I'm pretty sure the problem is caused by a torn off inductor next to the VGA connector. In the photos I uploaded there are two inductors L512 and L515, but L511 is missing.
Anyone know what inductor I can use to replace the missing one? The two remaining ones are about 2.1mm long, 1.2mm wide and 1.2mm tall. They seem to have two connectors on each end. What would be a suitable replacement that I can buy?...

Re: LG 42LV5500 TV - black screen, no sound, no image, no backlight
I measured the voltage across the 450V capacitors, they show about 400V when the TV is powered on.
Measured the voltages on the 24 pin connector from the power board to the main board. Here are the voltages listed below for each pin when the unit is in standby mode and when powered on. Some pins have a small AC voltage, so I listed those too.
Pin_____OFF_____ON
NC______0_______0____(0.6 - 1V AC 120Hz)
12V_____0_______11.89
12V_____0_______11.89
12V_____0_______11.89...

LG 42LV5500 TV - black screen, no sound, no image, no backlight
My LG TV 42LV5500 no longer shows anything on the screen. There is no backlight, no audio from external input sources, and using a flashlight I can't see anything on the screen either. When powering on, the status LED changes color and it makes a faint click as usual, but nothing else happens.
The problem happened unexpectedly - everything worked ok until one day it just doesn't show anything when powering on. I took the back cover off, there's a green board (I'm guessing the main board) and a brown board (probably the power board). Don't see any bulging or leaking capacitors. I...

Re: MSI 694T caps replacement
Valid point, but in my case I'm using a new EVGA power supply, bought last year.
Although I did mess around with software FSB clock adjustments, using programs that directly control the PLL. Hopefully that didn't damage anything....

MSI 694T caps replacement
So I recently got a MSI 694T Pro motherboard, which worked fine for about a week, but then started acting possessed - would randomly hang at different points during POST, displaying various POST errors, and only sometimes boot normally. None of the caps on the board are leaking or bulging, but I suspect they might be causing the problems due to old age.
The board has a mix of Rubycon, Teapo, and OST caps. I'm planning to replace the Teapos with Panasonic FR series of the same specs - would these work ok, or do I need a different replacement? Not sure if I should replace the other...
