I just need Your help with my 2017 multidi@g clone interface shown in the attachments, I used this particular piece of hardware with a number of european makes and it works just fine yet sometimes I used to run diagnosis on korean/japanese or even european makes like renault (Fluence) and it won't connect to the vehicle for some OBD II Protocol issue like incompatible protocol or something like such.
Will a Rework done on the VCI solve such issue ? or I'll have to get an another software like (Scanmaster_Passthru)?
Elighten me !...

Car code scanner OBD1 adapter enquiry
Hello everyone there
If You do remember me then I am Belal who posted an issue of his J2534 pass-thru Multi-Diag 2015 OBD II device a while ago and aside from my thanks that show my gratitude to all of those who have given me help with my issue I just wanted to go straight into my question which is whether using the OBD II to OBD I adapter to diagnose an older model vehicle like a GM 12 adapter safe enough and not gonna cause any catastrophic failure to my device and if it still can perform scanning with no issues?
there's a link for the adapter: https://ebay.to/2UCWDDx...

Re: A problem with an automotive trouble codes diagnosis device
Note: the components mentioned above are replacements of the factory PCB for some rework.
I've unscrewed the db25 side of the obdII cable to check for any faults and everything was fine, there weren't any signs for damaged on the lower board db25 pins.
The picture shows the suspected parts, pic1 shows the pcb before any changes were done to it, the other shows these parts (Reworked)....

Re: A problem with an automotive trouble codes diagnosis device
Hello again !
Since I really wanted to keep You all up to date with me, then I'd hate to say that my situation got from bad to worse
the device was supposed actually to work along when having it connected to the car and I can figure it by giving a red light out of the bulb then blinking green to know it runs with no connection problems but it gives nothing now but a green light when just connecting it for the first time and nothing else !
Does any of You have any Idea of a defected cap or varistor...Last edited by belalmondeo; 01-04-2019, 06:49 AM.

Re: A problem with an automotive trouble codes diagnosis device
According to Your own experience, how can I specify a faulty chip either with the naked eye or using some diagnosis method - troubleshooting instead of wasting my time and money purchasing parts randomly and later I find out it wasn't defected ?...

Re: A problem with an automotive trouble codes diagnosis device
First of all, thanks for the uplifting reply regarding my language.
Actually, I hear no clicks at all while I attempt to read, it also worths mentioning that it happened once to have the device responded just for once and it didn't repeat anymore by then....Last edited by belalmondeo; 12-31-2018, 06:14 PM.

Re: A problem with an automotive trouble codes diagnosis device
Absolutely correct !, that's the way my device work, another thing to mention BTW which is an app called at530 included with the software folder which appears on this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cw049QOIlTY
at minute 8:26 from which You can display the device status when being connected to a vehicle including the firmware version of the (VCI) vehicle communication interface but none of these stuff show up and mine keep displaying a message of (Function in progress) then software...

Re: A problem with an automotive trouble codes diagnosis device
Here is my China unit, I chopped the original cable off and used an old printer cable, its been working OK, sometimes very slow connecting.
I will change the small parts on the PCB to see if it helps, will the CTX50-1P be OK or is it best I change it ?
Said that guy I told about....Last edited by belalmondeo; 12-30-2018, 02:58 PM.

Re: A problem with an automotive trouble codes diagnosis device
Could the usb cable be the reason behind it ? it's 4 wires black (ground) - Green (Data +) - White (Data -) - Red (5V).
My idea is to replace it with a Printer cable and have the red wire disconnected as this dude did before as mentioned in this link: https://cartechnology.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=6936&page=4&highlight=fantomel (Post #34).Re: A problem with an automotive tro...ack (ground) -
