820-3476 2014 A1502 no mag light, no chime,dead?
Ok so I am still very new at this and wondering if i could get some help pinning this down. No mag , no chime, dead but clean as a whistle inside. I measured around C6422 to look for short to ground, following a prompt in one of the threads here, and suddenly the green light was back. I reinstalled the board, but alas, the green mag light disappeared again. Anyone out there make sense of this? I have power on all the main fuses... -

Did you ever get to the bottom of this ? I have the same issue, no light on mag, no chime seemingly dead. I followed the lead mentioned by batuochp and measured around c6422. I did not remove it(yet) but all of a sudden my mag light came back on...Then when I reinstalled the board, the light went out again. What is going on there? -

Early 2013 15"MBP Slow boot, and 50% of the time will show question mark folder
It does boot sometimes, but only after hanging for way longer than is normal for a A1398 of this vintage to come to the logo. Half of the times I try to boot it just gives me the question mark folder! I tried the usual SMC and PRAM resets, and I ran First Aid when the machine did decide to boot, but first Aid did not repair anything on the SSD, but came back with SSD is OK. I booted of external drive, and it did boot then.I reseated the SSD, looked at the connection under the scope. Looking clean.I switched to another known good SSD blade, same issue. I tied Safe Mode, but it hangs at login screen,... -

To the point:
Oh Boy, I really have to back up and read up on diode mode versus resistance measurements before messing about any more with trying to understand logic boards. Louis Rossmann had recommended using diode mode for quick measurements. So my reading in diode mode is the voltage difference in mV , and not related to ohms at all! Thank you KvnTM for shedding some light on this aspect for for me, all the way from Bayern. So in doide mode then the diode prevents the discharging and I get a more stable value of 1559? Did I get this one right?Leave a comment:

Thank you for your reply Piernov. I did as you suggested and took out the board. I would like to add that this board came from an Ebay reseller of logic boards, and it did well for the first boot up, in which I tested the GPU by running "Heaven", which it passed. The next time I tried to boot it was dead. The condition of the board is actually quite fine, no corrosion. It looks like there had been some work done by the seller, around U1800 and U2600, judging from the flux residue. 2012 13"Mbp 820-3115 sudden death
I am still very much a newbie , so please forgive my lack of knowledge, I am working on acquiring it, by doing, my best way of learning. I have a 820-3115 board which went from doing great to a sudden death, albeit with light on mag charger still on. I checked the power rails up to PP5V_S3, which is not present. One of my laptop repair gurus suggested to pour alcohol on the audio section and induce voltage into PP5V_S3 to trace the short in that line. I was wondering if I could not just measure the resistance or lack of resistance over the various caps and resistors in that line. 2011 MBP A1286 boots on mag only, battery prevents boot
The battery when connected seems to interfere with boot up. I can boot this machine, the dreaded 820-2915 IF I unplug the battery. I can plug the battery in after it booted and it will happily charge the battery. I tried with 2 known good batteries, but the issue remains. Battery prevents boot. Any clues. Board looks clean, no spills, no burned components ... -
