Yes, same values.
I can rule out the KBC , the charger chip the Bios and EC Bios. They were all checked, also replaced with new, and also replaced from an identical donor board and the behaviour remains the same....

Do the resistance measurements taken above help at all?

Many thanks! I try to get as much info in as I can but things get quite long then and puts people off reading
Checked PSID line...all seems fine there. PSID is also adapter sense yes? Bios does show 65w adapter present and 90w adapter when I change it to my spare so I assume all is good there.
Double checked the [B]CSSP, CSSN, CSIP, CSIN[/B] pins, all seems correct. Values identical.
PD7/8/9 are NC. Not connected and not present.

The replacement battery is not the problem and can be ruled out.
I've been doing some testing and on the donor board I bought, I have managed to make it work so far as in it will charge the battery...lol. It won't turn on though but it's good enough right now to cross reference.
I have 1 question first, with only the battery inserted, [B]no power lead[/B], is 3.3V_ALW meant to present or not? The donor board it is together with 5v_ALW, but my "good" board only 5v_ALW...Last edited by Canis; 12-06-2018, 11:25 AM.Leave a comment:

Ah unfortunately this is not the problem.
According to Dimitrios ( [url]https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=33802&page=2[/url] ) 3.3v is correct for this chip.
Just checked all around it to make sure and everything seems correct. Also, the donor board I have also gives out 3.3v on ACOK, so this matches everything.

You know...I've looked over the chip manual probably 20 times...how did I not notice that. You are right, ACOK should be 5.5v when ACIN = 2.5v
ACIN looks fine to me though, with the voltage divider I should be getting 2.375v @ 19.75v which I am but then it should be exactly around 2.5v?

Hey Guys,
long time lurker and I have a problem which I have been working on and off with for a few months now and hit a dead end and it's driving me crazy haha. Any input is greatly appreciated and sorry for the long read, trying to squeeze most info here.
Now I know this thing is old and is really not worth my time anymore, but it has been a great learning curve for me.
This laptop was given to me for free and was not working at the time at all.
Initially it was missing 3.3v_ALW which was caused by PQ31 shorting and also damaged... -
