Re: Samsung main power supply voltages
Just to let everyone know a new SMPS board repaired my pulsing problem. All variable voltages adjusted properly and picture looks as new. Thanks for all the help. Todd

Re: Samsung main power supply voltages
Well the Main Power Supply did not resolve the problem. Think I'm going to move onto the SMPS board next. Please post if you have any other ideas/input. Thanks, Todd

Samsung main power supply voltages
As a result of pulsating pixels on my samsung plasma tv (hp-5053) I measured voltages on both VS and VA test points on the main power supply board. VS is within tolerance steady at 190v. However VA seems to be unregulated bouncing between 70-105v. Is this an indicator that I have a breakdown on the PS Main board? I just replaced the video Main board which resolved almost all of the problems I was expirencing prior to this. Now I'm left with pulsating pixels (faintly) throughout the entire screen. Pulses are about 2hz. In between pulses the screen is completely clean. Please let me know your opinions...

Re: Samsung 5053X now flashing pixels
I have checked for defective shields and could not come up with anything. Any adjustment that I make on either the SMPS, Y-Main or power supply main board changes the intensity of the pulse as well as color. "Playing" with the adjustments can just about get rid of the pulse but will not resolve it totally. The transformer on the Power Supply Main board still buzzes "faintly" with every pulse. If there are any more ideas out there please let me know. Personally I'm leaning toward the PS Main board but any additional help is...

Re: Samsung 5053X now flashing pixels
I guess that is a possibility. I'm going to try plugging into a different circuit as well. I doubt this is the problem being the oscilations on my light fixture only happen when the TV is turned on. I guess its worth a shot. After that I have a feeling I'll be into the power supply board. Thanks! Todd

Re: Samsung 5053X now flashing pixels
Also, the pixel oscillations from the TV seem to be effecting my living room light. Yes the light faintly pulses along with the TV oscillations.

Samsung 5053X now flashing pixels
I followed the forums advise on my picture problem. Low and behold it was the video main board. This has resolved 98% of my problems.
The only thing that remains is that I faintly have multicolored pixels flashing (about 2hz) in the background. I have tried to make voltage adjustments. The pulsing gets better or worse based on the adjustments. Also I can hear a transformer on what I believe the PS board buzz with every pulse. It just seems like I have a voltage out of tolerance that I can't get dialed in "or" yet another problem persists. If Anyone has any advise I would...

Re: Samsung HPS-5053X Screen problem
Here is a youtube link to the problem I am expirencing. It is the same exact model with the same exact problem. Thought this may help in any further assistance. I would hate to purchase an expensive replacement board and end up with the same result. Also the wife yelling at me "just buy a new TV!"

Re: Samsung HPS-5053X Screen problem
Thank you very much for the confident answer. I don't have much expirence in the plasma world, but have a decent background in electronics, in which I work in daily. I would hate to have to throw this TV away over an easily resolveable problem. Thanks again!

Re: Samsung HPS-5053X Screen problem
When the problem first happened the colored lines would, at times, disappear. This makes me believe that it is not the panel, but a component. My wife ran one of those "pixel exciter" programs from her laptop and now the entire screen is a barrage of multicolored pixels. If anyone is able to point me in the right direction please do so. Thank you, Todd

Samsung HPS-5053X Screen problem
Hey all,
New to the forum and would greatly appreciate some help/advise with my plasma TV problem problem. The TV began to develop multicolored line problems (about 1" thick). About 6 months after the 6th line appeared my laptop computer would no longer interface with tv via audio/video port. The TV was still viewable until the entire screen went to all multicolored pixels. The picture can still be seen in the background (barely). Has anyone ran into or expirenced this problem before? What parts/boards made a repair? Again, any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you all,...
