• Re: TC-P50G10 14 blinks

It's certainly possible that I'm just misinterpreting a 13 blink. The way the service manual reads, it would have 13 blinks and then a gap and then another blink. But if there's no pause between them then it would look like 14 blinks.

    Thank you for the advice.

The more I research, the more it seems like the A board is a common issue with these models....

    TC-P50G10 14 blinks

For starters I'm pretty noobish so be patient.

I have a Panasonic TC-P50G10 that the screen powers on for a quick second, and then off. The power LED then blinks 14 times.

I've been googling, and it appears that this must be rather unusual as every sing "14 blink" issue I see is for a different model of TV (2011). The same goes for the search function in this forum.

I also have attached the service manual, which has no mention of 14 blinks (only up to 13).

If nothing else, at least it's interesting.

    I've looked...

I'm just asking out of curiosity, but what was the problem with the main board originally?

    Re: 55le5400

    Update:

I did a "redneck reflow" and it seems to have worked. The only think I notice is that the capacitive touch buttons on the front are a pain to get to respond sometimes, but I feel that's probably more a matter of poor design than a continuing problem. I'll be testing all the functions out soon.

Thank you very much for the help offered here! I apologize for how green I am to this sort of thing.

    Re: 55le5400

I also just checked the voltage at the connectors on top of the power board. The connector to the main board reads as such (left to right):
    0, 12, 12, 12, 0, 0, 3.3, 3.4, 0, 0, 24, 3.3

The only reading of those that isn't close to it's declared voltage is the furthest right pin, which is supposed to be at 24v.

The connector for the LED board is as such (left to right):
    0, 2.8, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 24, 24, 24, 24, 24

Also, you mentioned the service manual to this television. I'll see if I can find one as that would...

    Re: 55le5400

Alright. Turns out my noobishness strikes again. The change in behavior after I heated it with a hair dryer was caused by it no longer being on upon being plugged in. I didn't think before to hit the power button since the lights on the front and the clicks from the power board were originally happening any time it was plugged in.

Now it's just a no screen issue. When plugged in, and the power button pressed, there's a beep (I assume as their should be) and the capacitive touch buttons on the front light up, as well as the LG logo. The LED board has the...

    Thanks a lot.

I'll give that all a try as I have time over the next couple days.

I did. Unfortunately no change. So there's a chance that the main board continues to be the problem then?...

My apologies for not putting the make in the title of the thread. It's an LG 55LE5400. I can't figure out how to edit the post, but I'll keep looking.

    55le5400

I'm back again. Sorry for just how disjointed my thread was last time.

The history of the TV is that I recieved it for free, and it wouldn't power on. When I would plug it in, there would be a click or two, and then nothing.

Shortly after getting it apart, while checking voltages, I bridged across a mosfet. I believe it's the one I circled in red:

(I'm an idiot apparently. There's no need to ask what I was thinking, or how it happened, or any of that. Just assume I've taken all the criticism needed.)

    That blew...

  • Re: LG 55le5400 fuses

Alright. I had some sleep, and I think I'll be a little less dumb now.

Yeah, upon looking at it today, the amperage and voltage rating of the fuse are right there on the board as you said.

As far as checking the resistance on the PFC IC and rectifier, would the expected resistances be printed near them as well? I'll look into it and see what I can find.

I have to order a new fuse anyway. I tested the continuity and it's definitely blown.

    Thank you for your time....

    Possibly?

I'll be picking up a new meter tomorrow, and then I'll test the continuity of the fuses to see if that's what I blew.

I just am curious about how I can find out what amperage of fuses they are....

    Fair point.

I'm a complete noob to some of this, and now that I think about it, I think I actually had red on one leg and black on the other. Probably didn't have the meter on any settings that could handle that anyway. It was a complete lapse of judgement.

I've been lucky enough to fix a couple tvs with my little $10 meter, and probably some luck, but tonight was a lesson.

So, TLDR- I contacted one leg of the regulator with one lead, and another with the other. I also likely didn't even have it...

I wanted to check the voltage regulators, but slipped and bridged two of the legs. I circled the regulator that this happened on in red.

    LG 55le5400 fuses

    Hi,

I decided to dig into this LG 55LE5400 tonight. Symptoms that were described were that the screen wouldn't turn on.

Unfortunately, when I was checking voltages, I slipped up and made an ill advised connection.

Before this mistake, it would give a series of clicks whenever plugged in, and unplugged. It no longer does anything, and on top of that, I killed my DMM.

So, to start digging myself out of the hole I just fell in, I suppose I should start with the fuse that I likely blew.

I'll have to give them a check once...

    Hello from Alabama!

I'm definitely glad I found this forum as it seems to have a lot of great information on just the kind of projects that I keep finding myself in.
