Re: Sony Bravia KDL-60R550A- distorted picture
My next step is to check if i have the correct voltages at each bond tab on the board. I'm good with electronics repair. my next step is to try tese steps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UrTVEC5LkA&t=119s

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-60R550A- distorted picture
Thanks budwich, your input is greatly appreciated. I follow up with more pictures. If this is going to be a scrap i might try to see if i can rework these connectors. The panel is a "Sharp JE600D3LC5N" Only bonding tabs i see are at the bottom which connects to the driver boards 8 in total. The tabs on the side arent connected to a board they just hang there. I'lll post up pictures....Last edited by dsswhiz; 09-13-2018, 05:07 PM.

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-60R550A- distorted picture
So update with a colour bar screen test, cant really see any lines but not sure what am looking for. The colour bleed is from the slow image. Still cant get any change by pressing the bond tabs. I know it seems like a panel failure but what has me scratching my head is how is it affecting the whole screen and not just the damaged section. Am i wrong to think each half of the screen is Isolated when the ribbon cable is disconnected at the TCON? Has anyone tried fixing one of these panels? I have access to a digital microscope....Last edited by dsswhiz; 09-12-2018, 07:45 PM.

Sony Bravia KDL-60R550A- distorted picture
So the story with this set is I got it free as water damaged. When I first got it I had no picture or sound only had backlight. After some troubleshooting and voltage checks, I narrowed it down to a short in the left side of the panel.
i'll list the steps i've done so far.
1) Checked audio with a headphone on audio out jack and got audio.
2) Check the temp of Tcon chip, was ice cold.
3) Disconnected the left side of the panel at the TCON and got the right side to display an image- however the image was slow and distorted.
4)Dissembled the panel...
