Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
OK. I guess I need to replace the zener diode T3D16
I cannot suss out the specs on this one. Can someone help with this so I can find and equivalent replacement.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
I tested the diode with the diode function on two different fluke meters just to be sure when it was out of circuit. Showed bad.
It's shorting in circuit because it is installed across the primary winding of a small transformer. So, that makes sense.
I have a few general purpose diodes but no zener diodes. I will have to order one I guess.

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
Keep in mind I really don't know what I'm doing...
My knowledge is self taught and very limited.
So, now that I have already soldered the diode back in, should I be actually replacing it?
If that diode is indeed bad, should there be something else that caused it and/or will it have caused something else to go bad as well?
Edit: Also, since it seems to be a protection diode of sorts, even if it is bad, would it keep the circuit from working?...Last edited by Markus66; 08-14-2018, 02:07 PM.

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
So, I pulled D7112 to check it and it's open. It was testing shorted in circuit - power off.
It is labelled T3D 16
I think this is a zener and is likely OK I'm guessing...
Back to voltages on the little surface mount ICs.

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
The VREF seems to be connected to pin 2 on a SSC9512S chip through a couple resistors and a cap.
I will record voltages on the rest of the pins on both chips when I get a minute tomorrow.
I can only find a pinout for the 16 pin DIP and not the 18 pin (SSC8512S) surface mount - I'll dig a bit more for that.
Thanks
Mark

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
Not that I'm aware of. We do live in the country and it is possible I suppose but there is nothing else in the house showing any signs of disruption...

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
OK. Kids are out of the house so I have a chance to play around with this a bit.
Pin 12 (Vcc). - 14.93 VDC
Pin 7 (VINAC) - 3.32 VDC
Pin 15. (VREF). - 0 VDC. - Nothing
Voltages measured in reference to neg lead on main filter cap as requested.
Hope these results along with the low (165VDC) voltage at the filter caps might point to something going on.
Thanks,
Mark...

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
I just pulled the spec sheet for IC7201 - TI UCC28061
This is beyond my basic TTL skillset. I have no idea what to look for. Looking at the block diagram, I cannot even predict what I should be seeing at any given pin. I am so stuck in the '70s.......

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
Had a few minutes to revisit this board.
1. D7209 shows 62KOhms. 387KOhms in reverse.
2. I am unsure of what you are asking me to check/measure [ P/ of 7201]
Is that primary winding of the little 7201 transformer? If so, reads continuity (0.1 Ohms).
Thanks,
Mark...

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
Will do. Have a bunch of company coming over soon so, I will have to pause this until tomorrow when I have time to dig out my soldering iron and get back to it.
Thanks for the spec sheets!...

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
ICP7201 shows continuity while in circuit
R7273 and R7274 are showing continuity as well - clip/desolder to properly test?
Q7208 and Q7209 Both check good. 0.488 between S and D on both. Open in reverse....

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
1. Yes, you can clearly hear the relay upon startup
2. See attached pictures.
3. D7109 OK
D7110 .642 / 1.7
D7111 .493 / 1.99
D7112 TESTS SHORTED forward and reverse
D7114 OK
4. R7217 is a 3W 15Mohm. I'm not getting a resistance reading in circuit. I'm guessing I will have to desolder to check properly?...

I couldn't find any schematics online at all. That stinks.

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
I'm getting 165 DC volts at the filter caps...
Correct, 2 long - 3 shortLast edited by Markus66; 08-03-2018, 07:40 PM.

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
dick - will check the rest of the bottom side pins when I get a minute - I'm going to Ohm them out with the corresponding top side pin as it looks that most of them may actually be connected to each other with one or two exceptions.
bud - Model is LC-80LE632U Sorry. Should have included that in the original post.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Sharp Aquos 80" not working
Error was two long and three short and has not varied from that.
As far as I can tell that is a power supply error.
Voltages:
Pin 15 +5.12 VDC always
Pin 13 +3.29 VDC only when not flashing error code.................................... 0.00 VDC when error code flashing
Pin 14 +2.84 VDC as measured at J7578 only when not flashing error code..... 0.00 VDC when error code flashing
I hope I've traced pin 14 correctly to a top side jumper...
No voltages present...

Sharp Aquos 80" not working
Hey,
So, I purchased this TV new about 3 1/2 years ago - not long before FutureShop closed... It's in the basement and doesn't get used much but having said that I have never had a problem with it until the last couple weeks.
First sign of trouble was a couple weeks ago when I got two long flashes and three short flashes on the front power indicator LED. A little research and I was able to clear the error with the channel down/volume up while plugging in method. The TV would then work like normal. I had to do this a couple times over a couple days. I didn't use the...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hey All,
New to the site and not sure how I didn't find it sooner.
Middle aged tradesman who used to be tech saavy back in the day. I kind of lost the edge when Windows took over...
I have collected and repaired a few older (70's - early 80's), arcade machines - I can muddle through basic TTL circuits given enough time and luck.
I like cars and bikes and would say I'm a bit of a mechanical nerd as I can usually fix most things.
I tripped across this site...
