Re: Gateway 900G monitor not working.....shocking I know
Thank you Th3_uN1Qu3, PlainBill, and retiredcap, it was total success. I am enjoying this monitor right now.
The panels have been bravely switched from their power supplies, but signal cords left their own since the plugs were completely different. Now the trick was not only of powering both boards simultaneously but moreover connecting both to signal, this way neither of them would unexpectedly turn to "sleep" mode (yellow led). The tested panel (HannStar, 4 lamps ) worked fine on the alien board...

Re: Gateway 900G monitor not working.....shocking I know
PlainBill, Th3_uN1Qu3, retiredcaps: thank you guys so much for your postings. So far I got inside the fully functional 19" Avidav monitor with some M190EN04 V.5 LCD-panel. This panel's connectors are different, but my HannStar could be somewhat exchanged with it. Now what would be the worst scenario if I connect my trial Gateway's HannStar panel to that power board and vice versa, any experience?
Thank you in advance!

Re: Gateway 900G monitor not working.....shocking I know
Thank you retiredcaps for the input.
So my bulbs and their wiring is not as bad as shown at the quoted pictures if they fire up, is that right?
Is that the inverter controller -- the chip ovaled red by PlainBill here: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=13617&d=1264736231 If yes, how to test it?Re: Gateway 900G monitor not working...d their wiring...

Re: Gateway 900G monitor not working.....shocking I know
Hi Th3_uN1Qu3,
I tested bulbs connecting them one by one to the same output plug and turning the monitor on -- each time there was a start message a bit dim, lasting for a sec or so. Isn't that enough? Don't have a spare device unfortunately for testing.

Re: Gateway 900G monitor not working.....shocking I know
Dear PlainBill,
Thank you for quite an enlightening done already.
You have mentioned that there are several directions to undertake, and just the first one has helped the fellow, so I guess my question is: what are others? Feel like I need some help figuring out where to continue. You have marked there several spots on the power supply board, what to look for there?
Ran out of ideas: replaced 10 capacitors, re-soldered "suspicious" connections, checked all 4 bulbs for firing,...

Re: Help Identifying Vintage Measuring Device
Thank you PCBONEZ, I didn't know the whole story on transistor inclosures. What home-made? - I cannot think of any other 3-connector thing. Might try to draw -- it will be fun, colored wiresI still wonder what would be the use of this device now, there are digital transmission meters, they are at least smaller...

Re: Help Identifying Vintage Measuring Device
yyonline, Dgtech: thank you for your input. The bulb-like thing is a nickel size glass tablet with a little dot inside and three copper wires going out of it. There are two of them side by side: one is connected to the circuit, and another is SPARE! The company history kindly pointed to by Dgtech lists 1968 as "STC Footscray(?) announced new semiconductor devices", so I guess this realy may be the first transistor! My date reading on the right round db-meter is 1967. Would like to lean more on what might be the use of this...

Help Identifying Vintage Measuring Device
Hi all!
Could you help please:
1 What is this device for, and
2 Who may need it now?
On the box and on the board it reeds the same:
74116D trans meas set
SLS 1505D SHT 74/4
serial N ... made in England by
Standard Telephones & Cables Ltd London
It is portable, of late 60's according to the date on the part inside, pre-printed-board assembly. Has inside some weird glass unit, a little bulb-like thing but with 3 wires (transistor?). I am very curious to find this out, so if there is no info available, would you please...

Re: Mag LT916s Model 900p 19" LCD dropping like flies
The picture I've mentioned where you can see the broken piece and soldered to the board pins (kind of see, since pictures are really bad) is "connector 048", and it is # 6 on the list in the previous message. I fill totally lost about that stupid brake and await on help from the experienced people. Be grateful for any input. Thanks.

Re: Mag LT916s Model 900p 19" LCD dropping like flies
Hi guys. My experiments have lead to the worse: I've completely broken the 32 pin board-to-cable connector, the one in the middle of the circuit board on the TFT panel's back, which is HSD190ME12-A00. Any experience would be extremely welcome: it doesn't look like I could solder those pins back together. Shall I find and replace the entire board - what is its make, find a connector and re-solder it - is it possible to do a 32 pin one with a regular iron, and where to look for such a connector, or maybe its better to just...
