Re: Samsung PS43F4500 sparkles, retention, bad picture
Many thanks unspun for the advice, I did wonder if the panel age and not helping with the problem, what got my repair curiosity going (other than it being a freebie) was that the fault started suddenly one morning shortly after it was turned on which shouts 'failed component'.
Good tip about using commercials, I've always favoured a news channel as it doesn't change much.

Samsung PS43F4500 sparkles, retention, bad picture
Hello
I have been given a 6yr old plasma to fix or dump.
There is an odd solarization type effect at the top of the screen, sparkles and image retention of previous menus, logos or anything that has remained static for more than a few seconds.
Va, vs and vscan are all correct, all voltages on the psu are correct and stable. Tv boots fine and led on mainboard flashes once a second. I can't find any shorts on the ysus buffer board.
Odd thing i have noticed that if i temporarily disconnect one of the E buffers then the working side of the panel displays...

Re: LED strip lens caps falling off
I use a 5 minute epoxy and use the smallest dot of it I can. The caps are still removable if need be.

Re: Hitachi 50HYT62U Backlight brief flash
They were just tested from the connector, stripping a large panel apart wasn't an option at friends house.

Yes that would make sense. I probably missed one or more when checking with the lcd still attached.
Many thanks.

Hitachi 50HYT62U Backlight brief flash
Hi repairers I have a confusing one (for me).
A friend has asked me to repair his 2 year old tv, is this a led driver fault?...
Tv boots normally but no backlights other than a very brief flash. Tested with GJ2C tester all leds come on at 186v. During boot get 162v at connector, brief flash from backlight as voltage slowly rises to 236v, if the set is left on this drops to around 60v over the next 5 minutes.
All diodes test ok, all capacity and esr of caps is good, lcd panel is unmarked and menu etc can be viewed with a flashlight. Psu is a Vestel 17IPS20,...

Re: Eeprom dump thread!
Hello everyone,
I am after an eeprom dump for Toshiba 40L3453DB with mainboard 17MB95 and the panel is a VES400UNDS-2D-R7. The closest to working was with UPG20 files but screen was upside down and remote was no longer recognised. Many thanks.
