Re: Lightning strike Digihome 65240fhdledcntd
The house next door cannot be lived in due to the damage took over 3 hours to put the fire out they have been told may not even spend Christmas in there! So double tripple lucky. Roof top aerial got vaporised I think as that is nowhere to be seen the downlead was just a frazzled section of plastic blown off the wall.

Re: Lightning strike Digihome 65240fhdledcntd
It's alive :-)
My local electronics store is closed (Maplins same store as what Tandy used to be in the USA). Looked up local TV repair guys, found a local one that was only a short walk and asked if he would sell me a fuse. Went round and picked it up for £2 and all working. Havent tried TV tuner but HDMI works, so attached my android streaming box and all good. Do get some flashing of the standby light when I switch it on (not sure if this is normal dont think it used to do that) maybe it is seeing a problem with the...

Cheers guys, will go and get a fuse and report back. Someone else locally had the same issue with a power spike and it took out everything that was connected to the TV as well. However all the peripheral devices that were connected to this survived.

Hi thanks for sticking with me. The caps @ c101-103 are open. The standby cap next to D123 is showing 1075ohms but only when I put the negative lead of the meter on the positive of the capacitor and positve of the meter on the negative. If I connect positive to positive and neg to neg then I get open circuit. Does this all look good if so I will try to source a fuse today.

Re: Lightning strike Digihome 65240fhdledcntd
d105 if I have the positve of my multimeter on the leg by the jumper j110 and the negative on the right hand leg I get 967 ohms. If I reverse the leads then it is open.
The MOV I get a reading that reduces down to 979k almost like it discharges so when I first probe it on the 2000k scale it starts around 1200k and then reduces until it settles at 979k on that scale.
Thanks for help

Lightning strike Digihome 65240fhdledcntd
Hi, Tv was on at the time and plugged into rooftop aerial. Lightning struck house next door. Other houses 200yds away have blown tv's (with no roof top aerial) and broadband routers OOS. The RCD tripped in the property, fuse in mains lead also blew. Aerial drop lead from the roof frazzled in various place with the conductors melted away.
Got no standy light on the tv. Power board is vestel 17PW-03-9. The internal fuse T 3.15a 250v is open circuit. Can I change this for a cartridge fuse and see if power is restored? Have bridged fuse and checked across the 240v power input in diode...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Just joined got a broken TV. Next door neighbour house got struck by lightning. Our roof top aerial also took a hit and melted the conductors outside coming down the wall. Tv was on at the time and when it struck the RCD tripped in the consumer unit. There is an internal fuse cylinder type reddish brown marked with t3,15a 250v has 382 jet on it as well. This is now open circuit confirmed with DVM. There is a blue varistor nearby that seems intact to the eye. Will post in the relevant section :-)
