  • How to safely handle a 75inch LCD panel ?

    Hello,

I have a Sony KD75XD8505, 75 inch edge-lit tv to repair, unfortunately one of the LED strip was damaged by liquid so I need to open it, but I'm affraid to break the panel since it's so big...

I can do 55 or even 58 inch alone, by slowly sliding a big piece of cardboard (covered with cloth) under the panel, same for 65 inch but need another person to help.

I've seen suction cups mounted on a rigid chassis but it's not cheap!

What is your technique to safely move such big panels ?

  • Re: Vizio E470i-A0 Dark Areas After Replacing Backlights

The layers appears to be in the right order. Make sure the background (the white thing with holes for the LEDs) is clean, flat everywhere and not touching the LEDs lenses. Use double sided tape if necessary, especially on the angled edges. Also try clean all the lenses so they are perfectly clear (no fingerprints on them).

  • Re: Common EEPROM chips

Serial EEPROMs 24 and 25 are in my opinion the most common types, for example AT24C. They all have the same pinout and commands

But the output voltage stay at ~1V when I turn on the TV with the LEDs disconnected, it should be around 170V normally, so there is a problem on PSU, no ?...

  • Re: Hisense LTDN55K321 Purple backlight?

In fact I have opened the back of the TV and tested the backlight with GJ2C tester, and the LEDs are working but they are all blue too! The tester shows the same voltage for both LEDs channels, and multimeter shows only 1V coming out of the LED connector on the PSU, so additionally to replacing the LED strips I have to repair/replace the PSU... After a bit of testing I couldn't find something wrong on the board, so I suspect it's the LED driver (LX27901ID) that is faulty, I will try replace it just for fun, the board is only 15€ on...

    Forgot to update

As suspected, it was a bad cap at the bottom of the LCD panel, I replaced it using cheap "Yihua 938D smd hot tweezers", worked great, tv is repaired

Thanks Daveatfernie for the warning, I have the same TV and need to replace the LEDs too (not blue, simply no backlight at all), so I will make sure to look for this piece of adhesive...

Can you please tell me the reference of the LED strips so that I can buy them before opening the TV ? As I don't like to open multiple times or leave it open collecting dust while waiting for the LED strips to come....

  • LG 55UH615 : panel problem, is it repairable?

    Hello all,

I bought a tv LG 55UH615 that has no picture but sound and backlight working. As an amateur I though obviously that it was the TCON board so I bought one, but still no picture with the new one. I was about to buy a main board, but after a closer look I discovered there is a short circuit somewhere on the panel's right driver board (the one on the left, when looking from the back of the tv). Please look the attached video where I test for shorts on ceramic caps. There is no apparent damage, corrosion or traces of water, the COF looks fine, no traces of heat or burns... ...

  • Re: Samsung 55inch SmartTV strange artefact

Yes, as said, the problem is not always! Proof is another picture taken the same day, showing screen working without artefact..

Budwich I don't understand why you say the triangle is normal... but comparing the two pictures, I agree that it seems there is also a problem with the color/brightness.

So you are positive that it's a board problem, it cannot be the panel ? Could it simply be an issue with a connector or ribbon cable?

Edit: now after looking at some pictures on internet, I think there...

  • Samsung 55inch SmartTV strange artefact

Hello, I may be interested in buying a TV that has an intermittent problem. Sorry that I don't know the TV model, yet, all I know is it's a 55 inch SmartTV.

The problem is, sometimes there is a black triangle that appears at the top left corner, and it seems there is also a small vertical bar from the bottom left corner (see the picture), and the tv turns off by itself.

I couldn't find a similar problem here or anywhere in the universe, mainly because I don't really know what to search for.

Any idea what can be the cause of this problem ? Bad motherboard,...

  • Re: Samsung PS51E550 Y-Main

Look on the back of Y Main and with multimeter, test for shorts (continuity) on components attached to the heatsinks, if there is a short between the 2 or 3 legs of the same component then remove that component and test it again out of the circuit to confirm it's dead or possibly working ( I use component tester T7 for this, it works quite well, except with components that have all three legs shorted, the tester enters a selftest mode which takes like 30 seconds to complete.. but it confirms that this component is dead ). Repeat for other components until...

  • Re: Short circuit on Y Buffer board, or bad panel ?

    Hello,

So you are saying it is normal to have shorts here, and so this Y Buffer board looks fine ? As I'm still new to electronic, can you explain the purpose of this diode and those 22 ohm resistors, which looks totally useless to me since they are basically shorted and electrons won't bother to go through them ?

And what could have caused the two Y Main boards to fail then, if the Y buffer is ok and Va and Vs are fine too..? Could it be a problem with X Main board, on which I have not find any shorts...

  • Short circuit on Y Buffer board, or bad panel ?

    Hello,

Someone gave me a plasma TV Samsung PS50C530, which didn't turn on. It's the first plasma TV that I open and try to repair. I have repaired some LED TV but it was mostly simple things like replacing backlight or capacitors.

I found shorted components, and an exploded disk capacitor, on the Y Main board, so I bought an Y Main board on ebay, but when I installed it in the TV and tried to turn it on, it blew up instantly. All I saw was a few random white pixels on the display, then I heard "pak" from an unknown place (can't see any damaged component...

The case of the oven is properly grounded. Thanks, I didn't think about verifying this

It's not much bigger than a microwave.

Not my picture but same oven with original plug.

    Hello,

Problem solved... Long story short, I had to invert L and N in the plug of the oven, in fact reverting a previous attempt by myself to fix the same issue a few months ago... Don't ask, too long to explain

  • Bad heating element, or something else ?

    Hello!

I have a problem with a multi function electric oven Whirlpool MT66 which is at least 10 years old, it can do microwave, grill, and "pulsed heat".

When I use this "pulsed heat" mode (a fan with a circular heater at the back of the oven), it will trip the RCD, but not really randomly, so I doubt that it's the heating element!

Apparently, I can repeat this scenario indefinitely: I preheat at 200°C, or 250, for 10 minutes... When countdown reach 0:00, RCD trips. I reset the RCD, insert food in the oven and turn it on again...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hello all, I'm Guillaume from France.

I repair electronic devices but I'm limited by my lack of knowledge about it and have only a digital multimeter Extech EX330 and a component tester T7... I registered here because I need some help ^^
