  • Re: Polk Audio PSW111 Subwoofer - no power

Thanks, I'll definitely take a look at the transistors. This isn't too old, manufactured in 07 I believe. No brown glue, but they appear to be using some type of yellow foam or silicone maybe. There is one area where this yellow glue/silicone looks to have been heated up and turned brown. I'll upload a photo later....

Thanks, any chance you have a link to one of the write-ups or guides to repairing these? I'm very new t troubleshhooting and reparing this kind of things.

  • Polk Audio PSW111 Subwoofer - no power

So I picked up a polk audio psw111 from the thrift store for $10. Doesn't power on, knew this going in but figured it was worth the $10 to see if I could get it working.

The fuse at the iec socket is blown....I have a few on order. (1.6a 250v)

Im wondering if replacing the fuse would resolve this or if there is an underlying issue. I'm assuming the fuse will blow again when I replace it because I don't feel it would blow for no reason.

Looking for insight and what steps to take to troubleshoot this issue.

  • Re: repairing lifted pads

These wires are temporary with female connectors on 1 end to connect to a ttl to USB ftdi adapter. All I need to accomplish with the pad the ripped off is to short it to the pad next to it as well as the 3.3v osd. The short causes it to boot in a different mode so I can reflash the chip.

How can I find the trace on this? I actually thought the wire were small, lol.

Is there a way to temporarily rig it up since all I need to do is short it for a few minutes? After I flash it, I shouldn't need access to...

  • repairing lifted pads

I am curious if it possible to repair lifted copper pads. I lifted a very small service pad which I need to connect to in order to reflash a chip.

The board is small so may be difficult to work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

  • connector/cable identification

Looking to identify a connector/cable. If I get it from the manufacturer, it will take two weeks to get to me. Hoping its something I can get from digikey/mouser. I can't imagine its proprietary.

The connector is a little less than a half inch wide. Please see attached photo of cable. I will attach photo of socket shortly.

  • Re: How do i repair this?

Thanks for the advice. I think Im just going I’m going to cut my losses on this one.

Seems like it may be far too time consuming and a bit of a headache.

  • How do i repair this?

Please see attached photos. Ribbon cable and holder/socket was ripped off the board. Is there a way to repair this? How would I attempt this?

Despite the size of the image, the connector and pins are quite small which may present a challenge.

    THanks in advance...

I think you are referring to the components on the power supply board. I do apprciate you telling me what those components are because I would have never known there was a fuse on that board, but I believe that board is good. I have the correct voltage coming out of the board.

Im trying to see if there is some type of fuse on the larger boards. The older models had a fuse om those (see attached). Im not familiar with the look of components on these types of boards.

  • Re: Sonos Connect repair

Also from researching it appears the older models had a fuse mounted to the board. Not a glass fuse, a disc type soldered to the board.

I am unsure if this model has a fuse. Can anyone tell me if c12197 is a fuse. In my little experience, ā€œcā€ usually indicates capacitor but it stood out to ke because of difference in color....

  • Re: Sonos Connect repair

See attached photos of power supply board. This is what I thought the issue was....due to some areas of the board not looking so good.

After removing the board I powered it up to check voltage outputs. Vo9tage is good coming off thhe board, so I don't believe this is the issue.

The gray/black wire soldering I was writing about in the prior post is correct. It appears the wire broke and the black is just a patched piece of wire. Can anyone tell me where I can get a replacement gray wire?(I am unsure of the name/connector/size)...

    Sonos Connect repair

I was given a broken sonos connect by a friend. It wont power on.

He opened it up and soldered a black and gray wire together he said came apart. Im unsure if these wires are even meant to be connected.

I also see an area on the power input board that may be suspect. I will upload photos later tonight.

Can anyone give me some insight on this unit? Advice? similar issues?

  • Battery connector for Phantom 3

Does anyone know the name/size of the battery connector for the DJI Phantom3? I realize this is not a drone forum, but since I am a member here I thought it may be a better place to ask.

Would like to order some from digikey if they have them to make m6 own charging adapters.

I can provide photos of the connector if necessary

  • Direct burial speaker wire

Any suggestions for semi-cheap direct burial speaker wire?

I have been looking at Honeywell 5285, but it is around $125 per roll of 500ft. I only need about 200 ft or so. I know honeywell does make good cable, but hoping to find decent quality cable for less.
