  • Re: Acer AL2423W LCD Monitor - Bad caps

I should have read this thread first before closing it back up so I would have gone ahead and replaced the caps on the inverter board. Too late now, but i'll probably sell the monitor soon.

My issue was the monitor would be on, but take a while to light up, maybe a good 10-20 seconds of the Acer logo going, sometimes longer. When it finally displayed the image I would get the "No Signal" overlay from the monitor, even though it was still displaying the image perfectly. Every 5 minutes or so, it would finally detect...

  • Re: Internal Shots of the Logitech Z313

I got them for <$30 they were broken and they sent me another set. I didn't have to return the broken ones so I wanted to fix them up just as a learning experience, and maybe get an extra set for another computer if i can fix it. I couldn't find any info on the pre amps with the numbers on them. I will test the power amps as soon as I get my multimeter back ( i just moved ). Thanks, any info would be appreciated, data sheets etc.

I need some help fixing mine and you guys are experts. My sound is very distorted, the sub doesn't seem to be producing any sound. The satellite speakers aren't very loud and produce a hum that gets louder as i turn the sound up. At max I can barely make out voices and the hum is louder than the voices.

What should I be looking at, the pre amps, or the heat sunk audio amps ?

I have not had time yet and no I have not repaired it yet. I now have an ESR meter and will start to go through and test them since I didnt get a response from anyone else for advice on mine.

I've tested 2 caps on the power supply board (you can prob see me re-soldering it back in the top two in the 2nd picture) and the C637 cap (also re-attached). I only tested their capacitance, I ordered the Russian ESR meter 4.0 tonight so it will be a while before it gets here....

How much should I be spending on a decent capacitance meter and an ESR meter. (I asked for an ESR meter and they didn't know what I was talking about). Are there meters that measure both? ( my capacitance meter was $80 i feel like it should cost half that, i dont see any ESR meters in that price range... anyone got a link/website to buy?)

(My C637 also tested ok on my capacitance meter of 477uF).

Please advise if i should continue to test all the capacitors according to my description so i can start removing them and testing them one by one.... or if you need more info.

When I plug the power into the monitor, with or without the vga cable, the monitor blinks white to black pulsing about every second. The lights at the bottom right that numbers from 1-4, the 1 and the power button blinks green. The picture is quite similiar to the pics above posted, there is no discoloration or bad caps as far as I can tell. I can not see anything on the screen even with a flash light. I will take pictures as soon as I can get my camera back.

Can you please elaborate on this 'heating cooling' method. I recently obtained a 2005FPW when plugged in I only get power light and #1 flashing green. I opened it and caps look good on power supply. I can't see if they're bulging at the bottom....
