So everything is hooked up again, including a cable box. I got sound, which I had, and I have a backlight tv screen. I do not have a picture, and I can no longer pull up the menu. I tried the cable box with the cable cord and with the hdmi cord, same result. I'm guessing it's something I'm doing wrong but I don't know what.

Went off after 11 minutes. Ran it again, went off after 14 minutes. No LEDs seemed to get weaker, flicker or turn off ahead of that. Will watch closer this time to see if one goes off right when it shuts down.

I went with hooking everything up except the t-con board since panel is not there anyway. All LED are lit...So Bright! Will let it run for 20 minutes and report back. Although I probably won't be able to see again for awhile.

Can I hook up ONLY the power supply and video driver board to the LEDs to test, or do I have to hook up all boards..t-con, motherboard, video and power? I could just try it but I don't wont to short anything out so I thought to ask you all first.

OK, I didn't know I could do that. So this time I will take it all apart, play and test stuff, put the other new led string in there, then put it back together again with everything but the panel parts. Right? Turn tv on to make sure all lights are working and let it run for a little while. Right? Thanks again!

Thanks nomoresonys, I did, just gotta strip her again. Not giving up. does anyone know how to do what budm suggested to test them for 15 minutes or so? I can't imagine that means to stand there holding the probes on those tiny wires for 15 minutes.

Well I did test it, they all went on, but how do I test them for 20 minutes?? ...especially since I'm going to have to strip the TV down again anyway. Also thinking I should change out the other side of the edge lighting too, even though they all work. What do you think?Leave a comment:

I am heartbroken. The part came in from China today. I replaced the Edge lighting strip on the right because that was the side that had one LED that didn't work. The other Edge strip, on the left, all LEDs worked. Finally got it all back together. Turned it on and it does the exact same thing. Lights pop on, then off. Can still see the menu with flashlight test, but no TV. Is there anything else that might cause the lights to pop on and off. Could it be shorting somewhere? ...well besides the LED strip?

Awesome, that's what I did. Out of the 72 leds, only one is out. Will that short them all out. Is there a way to see all of them on at once with the tester?
So now I'll just sit and wait for the leds to ship from china. I hope it doesn't take a month but that seems to be the usual for me.
Please don't forget me when I check back in a few weeks. Hopefully with a TV that is working.

can anyone tell me how to test this type of strip? I brought an led tester. I see the little dots near the end where the plug is. If it's not plugged into electricity, do I take a chance of ruining them all if I touch the wrong thing? Thanks so much!Leave a comment:

Hi everyone! I plugged in the number on the steel bar that holds the leds and voila! I got ebay items coming up that represent the leds!!!
74.55T02.001-3-DX1 is on the bar and 551A04 is right on led strip

Nomoresonys, I was thinking more in the line of 3 volt from another tv.
Diif, I didn't even think of the plug in type. I will get a closer picture of them when I get home in a couple hours. I've watched the videos on how to get the led strip off, been afraid to try. I received the led meter but I need to get a magnifying glass because I can't read any of the lettering on it. Great input guys, thanks so much.

I'm having a hard time finding less like this. They are like double less on each little piece. Is there a name of such an led? I was also wondering, could the whole 55 nch TV just be replaced with any type of edge light that is the same size, like a newer brand or type?
