Re: philips 170s turns on for 1s and than dead
I guess budm was right.
I disassembled the entire screen down to the lamps,
tested the lamps and they were good.
I put everything back together and it works.
But I strongly suspect it was a loose cable, as budm suggested.
But nonetheless, the crucial part was
troubleshooting that transformer. That was key.
That and replacing all the bad caps.

First and foremost, thank you all for your patience.
The patient has recovered and working fine.
But besides the screen working, I want to thank you all
for helping me acquire new skills and understanding.
Forums like this are really the reason why Internet is a good thing.
All my love to you guys. (but not the gay kind)

Ok, here's the deal. The transformer came in, the resistance is very close to the one on the board. I installed it dilligently, however, other problems emerged.
Pls halp.

Vis a vis the transformers:

and again, the continuity doesn't sound off on either.Re: philips 170s turns on for 1s and than dead

Re: philips 170s turns on for 1s and than dead
Progress!
the P channel mosfet shows 0.171 V voltage between D and S,
and I can read that same voltage on both the diodes on the opposite side (using diode check function).
So the diodes seem to be shorted, altough the meter doesn't chirp in continuity mode.
On the second mosfet (N channel) I read 0.180 V from S to D.Last edited by mihovilko; 02-27-2018, 08:40 AM.

Re: philips 170s turns on for 1s and than dead
Um. Is it too late for me to pitch my problem in this same thread?
Exactly the same problem here. I replaced all bulged caps, but still no go on the 2 sec to black. Also tested transformers, seem to be working, I guess. I can't find the fault. Help, pls?...
