I am not an electronic tech, just a hobbyist that is very good with a soldering iron and have fixed many electronics with obvious issues. Is there anyway to determine if it is a filter cap on a switching circuit ? The ones I am replacing are round Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors. The capacitors I am replacing are 680uf 10V, 820uf 6.3v, 1200uf 6.3V. I have read the original caps were know to fail because the voltage was too low so I was going to replace them all with 16v ratings.Leave a comment:

Hi All, I am recapping a Bell Expressvu satellite receiver due to the known issues with swollen caps. I want to use Nichicon or Panasonic caps...Couple questions
1) is low ESR & low impedance the same thing ?
2) Am I safe using low or super low impedance capacitors as a replacement everywhere ?
3) I have read that you can go higher on voltage with replacements. for an example if the originals are 820uf 10v could I put 820uf 25v without any issues ? -

This is a weird one, as mentioned below I checked and replaced the below components and put the the board back in and it did the exact same thing. As suggested I removed the board, reinspected and checked the complete board for cold solder joints and none were found. The board was a little dusty (I have seen much much worse) so I gave it a good dusting with a paint and tooth brush and put the board back in. Now the TV stays on now without issues, I have given it two tests for over 8 hours each. Is it possible...Leave a comment:

Hi All, I have an LG 50PK550 with the EAX61392501/10 EAY60968801 power supply board. When I turn it on it clicks and shuts off immediately, I have unpluged the power wires to to Zsus and Ysus board and it does the same thing. I have read up and replaced IC301 & d304 and checked the R927 R929 and all 3 fuses on the board and all appear ok. Still does the same, shuts off immediately with or without the z & ysus board hooked up. Any help would be appreciated. Thx -

LG 60PV400 "check external input link status"
Hi All, I have an LG 60PV400 that has a message "check external input link status" when I press the input button on the remote or TV if no inputs are plugged in. If I plug a HDMI in it will let me into the menu and select any input whether they are connected or not. None of my other LG TV's do this. Is there a setting in the service menu to change this ?? -

Hi all, I'm attempting to repair a ebr66607501 Ysus board and have removed the Q12 Q13 sus up and the Q21 Q22 sus down igbts which were shorted and now I cant remember where the 30F124 and the 30J124 go !!! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks -

Have you checked all the 270 gate resistors on the 4633 transistors ? they should read about 13.5 ohms when in parallel. Surprisingly mine were fine but they usually blow when the resistor shorts....Leave a comment:

I found 3 more FGPF4633 transistors on the silver heatsink in the middle of the board that were shorted, I didn't see these at first because they were completely covered with the silicone goop. I replaced them and now the tv is working. I have tested it for over 30 minutes.....So far so good. I tested all the gate resistors and surprisingly they were good.Leave a comment:

YSUS EBR73561201 clicking off on a LG 60PV400
Hi all, I have a EBR73561201 Ysus board on a LG 60PV400 that clicks off after 2 seconds when powered up. I am 99% sure the problem is the YSUS board because when I power up the TV with it disconnected the tv stays on and I have tested the buffers and when the buffers are disconnected and the YSUS is powered the TV shuts down. I did replace a couple of FGPF4633 transistors that were shorted and tested all gate resistors but it still will shut down once I hook up the ribbon cable from the control board. I retested the transistors I replaced and tested the gate resistors and they seem fine. Anyone... -

I have an LG 50PZ550 with EBT61533103 EAX63546403 Main Board. The TV would turn on but with absolutely no display, no LG logo nothing. I did the control board screen test and all was working so I determined the main board was causing the problem. I did the oven reflow trick and now alls working great, I know this is just a temporary fix. I have lost HDMI's on other TV's but they would still have the LG startup screen and logo, this on had absolutely no display at all. Anyone know what component on the board may need resoldering ? -
