    The problem went away once i swapped in one of the other inverters.

    I had already replaced the 3 x 180uf caps in it.

    I'm not sure how much troubleshooting i can do on the remaining inverter components.

    Ill look at the psu caps next and can do other side by side measurements with the good monitor unit when times available.

    I don't smell anything obvious.

    I didnt see sparks on the inverter area, was trying this without the inverter emi shield.

    So is this symptom less indicative of caps due to the sizzle sound?

    Ive not seen anyone talk of replacing the lamps on these.

    I have three of these monitors, ill swap inverters and see if the problem follows inverter.

    Is it appropriate to continue this thread for additional repair tips on VP2030B or should I start new?

    I recently had a V2030B take a dump.

    When powered on it makes a sizzling noise coming from the inverter area.

    Noise and screen come on for a few seconds, then black and quiet.

    I could post an audio file in case the noise may say a thousand words to someone here.

    I can repeat the process by just powering the monitor off and on on the front bezel.

    The 3 x 180 caps looked...
