• Re: Genius SW 5.1 DHT-510 - No sound?

Quick update. I've replaced the TDA7269A IC3 with the AliExpress part, but no luck. Solder joints are good, approximately zero resistance from chip pin tips to the next directly connected point on the PCB. Will dig deeper and research above questions as soon as I find some time.

Okay, school's over. May it rest in peace ... for a while . I've just survived my first year at the university, but it's the same thing as elementary and high school were (a pile of tiresome education), so I refer to it as school nevertheless.

Back to the topic!
So, yeah, I was stupid enough to order a pack of 5 TDA7360s from AliExpress (got six of them), due to a stupid typo in posts #20...

It opens perfectly fine on my phone. I've attached the PDF file from inside the .rar in case you're still having problems with opening. Hope I'm not violating some NDAs by repacking this confidential file ....

• Re: Genius SW 5.1 DHT-510 - No sound?

Please pardon my ignorance, but, given the results, should I redo the measurements (if some values perhaps seem wrong), check for some more burned elements after the mishap, or should I simply proceed to ordering two TDA7269A's and one TDA7360?

EDIT: I will certainly redo the measurements ASAP as the values for the main subwoofer IC should be different (now that it's burned, gah!), but I'm not touching IC2 so that I don't burn that one too .

EDIT 2: There is no free shipping TDA7360 on sale on...

Long time no see! I was occupied by other stuff, projects, day-to-day obligations, etc. This absence was not a manifestation of a loss of interest, just lack of time at the moment ... and ... I made a boo-boo. There were some perceived deviations in IC1 values below so I wanted to redo the measurement, but I burned the TDA7360 chip by accidentally shorting pins 8 and 10 during runtime. It just went mute. Damnit!

Prior to that stupid mistake this were the results of my measurements. I have measured the voltages using my...

It's my fault. You said "You can muting control pins DC voltage of the ICs." I thought I was to mute stuff somehow. Sorry. Will check.

Oh, pardon my ignorance. I was just wildly speculating. What I wanted to know was how can I mute those control pins?

There's no reason why wouldn't I do that, but how? By desoldering leads?

Okay, measured voltage on Zeners. D4 reads 12.24V, and D5 12.57V.

P.S. I know it's kinda late, but congrats on the Badcaps.net 12th anniversary! Live long and prosper !

Aw, thanks mate! You shouldn't have bothered for such a newb like me .

@budm, forgot to measure the voltage. Will check and report back....

Indeed. Is there any way I can tell for sure if they're burned or not prior to seeking a replacement, something like this? I tried to follow the instructions from the linked page, but the DMM picture is way too low-res and I can't tell in which mode it is. It would help me a lot if it was a higher resolution picture as I have an identical DT-830B thingy. It's not the best thing on the world, but most of the time it does the job. Would desoldering...

Measured resistors R11 and R12. I have got values of about 820 ohms (808 Ω on R11 and 803 Ω on R12), as in the schematic on page 19. Hope I've read it properly. If it doesn't matter if the resistors are soldered on the board (thus measuring overall circuit resistance on these two spots), the values are matching and inside the ±5% tolerance. Seems okay?

However, regarding those two Zener diodes D4 and D5, I've got about -543k ohms in anode-cathode direction when measuring resistance, and some insane (not readable) value...

I should have added "If you despise people who have basic or no electronics knowledge at all, the same applies." at the end of the introduction part . Anyway, if you don't mind my ignorance, what would be an appropriate (read: the most common way) to do so?

Yeah, sorry mate. Pictures truly turned out crappy. Guess setting everything to auto doesn't always do the justice ....

INTRODUCTION
You don't remember me, but I remember you... (nah, it's not the Grease song!)
Okay, not really. Enough digressions! Some of you may remember me from the LCS-8038TX thread. As you might have noticed from my previous thread and this one too, I mostly mess with sub-$100 equipment. Most would say worthless stuff, or at least not worth the time or bothering. Well, the primary reason I'm trying to fix them is to (hopefully) gain some experience whilst not breaking something wildly expensive, but also because it's fun (for me) to see something working neatly again.

Okay people, seems like this NIC is more dead than I thought (btw, I bought myself another one) so I will announce this thread locked.

Thanks to all of you who spent some effort to help me!

If it helps you peeps the C45 is labeled as following:

GAP KAP (I googled a bit, it's a ceramic cap, not a MOV)
1-2KV
ARC

Yep, that circled item is split, shadow has nothing to do with it, unfortunately.
Does it mean something particular?

EDIT: Okay, it isn't fully split, it has a cut in the middle.

Well, the fact is that I'm trying to fix it because I wanted to know if there's anything I can do to bring it to life before I go to some computer shop, get myself a new NIC and toss this thing in garbage. If there's nothing else to do, it's time for shopping!Re: Lcs-8038tx

Re: Lcs-8038tx

Sorry peeps for not informing you about the...err... progress, but I've had some goddamn school obligations so I wasn't able to respond any sooner. Anyway, I found a shot of my NIC on some Chinese shopping site, and all caps on that picture were having the same specs, so I decided to solder a Licon (yes, I know they suck!) cap that was lying around. And guess what? The card worked just as miserably as it did before I soldered that cap there. Cap isn't dead, and it's soldered properly. OK, I'd say so because there's no shorts and I've taken care for the polarity stuff....

So, I popping in a 10uF 25V cap (that are the specs of other caps on the board) should solve the problem?...
