    thanks vinceroger. i've flashed the firmware and the energy saving mode is off. ironically i've just powered it up and was running with no flickering at all. now its started flickering after about 3 minutes of being powered on.

    dskall ; yes ; i've seen that video with dave. thats the exact model of flamin TV mate that i have ere. i replaced that stupid fuse as well with the exact same one i ordered from element14 here. i'll try that with the TCON and ribbon cable, i do agree with him the connection into...

    what video dskall?
    i had it running for a while this morning and it went blank completely (backlight on, no picture) while it was warm.
    something definately not right here.
    nothing like an intermittent fault to keep you on your toes

    Hi

    So my out laws have had this LCD for several years now.
    It was given to me as it wasn't turning on, ie: it would get the Soniq tune, but no picture.
    I found the SMD fuse on the TCON board was intermittent/open, so replaced that, and we now get a picture. However, the picture is not constant....at least, not until we've warmed up.

    When the machine is cold, its unstable and the picture flickers.....when its warm, its solid and on, no issues.

    It has the infamous 1117 SM regulators, however, they seem to be doing a good job and working...

    Hi.

    Interestingly, my daughters exact same model TV developed the same fault.
    The image is there, however, the backlight is not on. I can shine a torch into the LCD and see the picture there very feintly, ie: no backlight LEDs on at all.

    My regulator reads the same as yours - the ones either side supply 5V with 3.4V out and a few Ma on the other leg ; this one reads 5V supply side with 1.34V out and about 1200Ma on the other leg (if that makes sense)

    Stumbled across this forum while diagnosing a bad backlight on my daughters LCD.
    Also in IT and love my retro computers, Amstrads, Amigas and C64's.
