Re: Disable Hotel Mode. Sony KDL-55W802A
WOW. I just figured it out.
SO, evidently there is a specific chronology in which you have to navigate into and out of these modes.
NORMAL MODE > HOTEL MODE SETTINGS > HOTEL MODE
OR
HOTEL MODE > HOTEL MODE SETTINGS > NORMAL MODE

You cannot skip over HOTEL SETTINGS MODE.
So, the hypothesis that I was in Hotel Mode was correct, but I was trying to jump straight to Normal Mode, which...

Disable Hotel Mode. Sony KDL-55W802A
I've seen a few different methods listed around the net but none of them are working for me.
Does anyone know the SPECIFIC method for disabling Hotel Mode for this model? Do certain buttons need to be HELD simultaneously or do they just go chronologically?
I have a RM-YD087 remote, which as far as I can tell is the correct remote for this TV but I am unable to enter Service Mode or perform a factory reset, I assume this is due to the Hotel mode being enabled.

Re: Sony KDL-55W802A - No Power. Help?
Ah, sadly this RCA universal just isn't speaking the same language. Well I guess I'll be ordering a Sony remote. I looked into Hotel mode, it does sound like that is why everything is disabled.
Well, I hope that's why.
Thank you for the suggestion, I'll report back when I get it.Re: Sony KDL-55W802A - No Power. Help?

Re: Sony KDL-55W802A - No Power. Help?
Thanks for the input.
The service manual says "Info>5>Vol UP>Power". Is that what you meant? I wasn't sure what Display meant.
Unfortunately I don't have the original remote and my RCA universal isn't allowing me to get into service mode with that combo, although it has all of those buttons and it works with the TV....

Re: Sony KDL-55W802A - No Power. Help?
SO, I am having an issue accessing some of the tv functions with the new mainboard.
There is no "Settings" menu option and only HDMI 1 is showing up.
Does this sound like a software issue?
I wonder if the new board needs to be updated in order to synchronize. Unfortunately I can't access the update function through menus. I've downloaded the update from Sony to a usb stick and the tv detects the usb but it doesn't begin the update process automatically as the Sony support site says it should....Last edited by MiserablePixels; 12-15-2017, 11:11 PM.

Re: Sony KDL-55W802A - No Power. Help?
UPDATE
Based on an initial hunch that the power supply was good, I ordered a new main board last week.
I have been unable to determine what the problem on the mainboard is. The voltage issue at the port where the 3.3v was not reaching the via on the underside of the pcb was the only obvious issue. I imagine it could be better diagnosed and repaired by someone more knowledgeable than myself but for $75 I was able to buy a guaranteed working board.
And it worked! TV turned right on. I am so...

Re: Sony KDL-55W802A - No Power. Help?
I just completed this test.
Jumping 3.3v and Power ON enabled all voltage correctly, both T-CNVcc12v pins have 12v. I jumped T-CN ON to 3.3V, BL ON to 3.3 with 1k resistors and voltage is traveling to them but I have no backlights.
Does AC OFF DET need to be signaled? Shouldn't there be the equivalent of "Power Good"? Does GND need to be signaled?
I appreciate your help so far. I'm hoping I'm just missing a step to enable the LEDs. I assume they work in "sections"...

Re: Sony KDL-55W802A - No Power. Help?
Additionally - Is there a way to test my LEDs using the PSU alone? I'd like to eliminate them being an issue while I'm testing the PSU.
I've read using a 10k resistor between the 3.3v Standby and Power ON and another 10k between the 3.3v and BL ON should turn them on, but I didn't get anything.

Sony KDL-55W802A - No Power. Help?
I'm trying to diagnose my LEDTV's no power issue. For reference, the TV is not powering on, no standby lights or blink codes, no relay clicking, just nothing. The PS has 3.3v standby voltage and my bridge rectifier is reading in spec.
I'm following the standby voltage (3.3v) but the mainboard is evidently not sending any signal back to my powersupply to enable the rest of the pins because the rest of my 12v rails don't have any power. If I use a jumper across "POWER ON" and "AC OFF DET", the 12v pins all get a solid 12.5v.
Testing continuity, I find...Last edited by MiserablePixels; 12-14-2017, 01:01 AM.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Heya, just hoping to glean some knowledge from the veterans of the forum.
I've always loved tinkering with electronics but I've had no formal training and am struggling to tackle a few larger, component level repairs I have run into.
Hopefully I'll be able to pick up a few things while I'm here.
