Good morning all, I am back to the issue. I will replace the MB as it si quite chip. Before buying I need to be sure about MB model. The laptop is a X240 i5. As the laptop is not working I can get additional information about i version of CPU. The market offers several models and I found an i5 4th. I am not sure about "i" generation...how can i solve this doubt?

socket 1: data pins, diode mode, 808 - power pins, ohm meter OL;
socket 2: data pins, diode mode, 268 - power pins, ohm meter OL.
I tink I did it correctly....

Ok let me explain. We had to connect a USB cable from an automotive dash to the laptop for diagnosis. Unfortunately my friend connected the USB cable to the wrong dash connector. When I plugged the USB cable to the USB port the laptop died. To give a full picture, I did not check the connection so I went straight to the connection. I used my laptop (HP ELITEBOOK 820) and the laptop "died" for a while but later on went back to normal operations. On the ither hand tha Lenovo died as I wrote....

Lenovo X240 - motherboard VIUX1 NM-A091
Hi all, due to a mistake a friend connected a wrong USB pin to the laptop. The laptop immediately stopped running and never get back to normal functioning.
If I connect to the power supply the only sign that I have is three blink forn the power button and in accordance with user manual this only means that a power supply has been connected. With battery no signs at all. My understanding is some hw problem to the mb. The laptop is an old one but still working so I wonder if it is worth to repair or buy a new mb for 25/30 USD. Does anybody have suggestions what to to or check before throwing...

Hi, well I will spent some money to get a new MB just for fun, I found the proper model/version MB. My understanding is that I will "simply" remove the old MB, reinstall the new one and make all connections. I assume that the boot procedure will "recognize" connected basic hardware....SSD, RAM, screen, keyboard and maybe a tuning of BIOS as well as BIOS update could be necessary....

Hi, I checked the SD slot, unfortunately it is my fault. I pulled out an SD card adaptor that was blocked into the slot. The internal contacts are damaged. I am quite confident with electronics so sure about damage not possible to be fixed. I searched the replacement part but it looks like it is not available, it is actually soldered to the MB. As said it is not a big issue as I can use USB card adaptor but it would make me happy to have it working. MB cost is not so prohibitive to me...just for fun.
The image is taken frome the web...but it it the same. You can see where the SD card slot...

Dell E7450 - LA-A963P motherboard damage and replacement
Hi all, I damaged the SD card slot of my notebook, it is not a big issue but I would like to have it back to work. I realized there is no spare part so I have to take a new motherboard. Not so expensive so I can make it. A few questions as I found a new MB on aliexpress.
I believe the procedure is:
- remove the old MB;
- install the new one;
- install my SD disk back.
Is this correct...what about the BIOS? Will the notebook start correctly or it will be necessary some other software/BIOS procedure?
Thank you for any help.

Re: toshiba AC adapter
I guess so but I just cleaned the board nothing else. Caps are mounted correctly. I am aware about polarity.
Ok do not know how to measure ESR...multimeter is ok?. I will double check for bridges.
Maybe it is an effect by the pictures but I can assure caps are not bilged at all.
Can I test with one single cap of 1000mF instead of those two?...Last edited by vince59; 05-14-2020, 03:19 PM.
