• Re: Philips lcd 32 inch no power

that was the problem. New / Used inverter board came in the mail today. I probably couldn't have bought the parts to fix mine for the price I paid for the whole working board. ($15.00 usd)

I didn't see anything visably wrong with my old board other than the transformer had solder running down the pins/legs. It must of got hot at one time.

BUT I still have one small problem yet (I think)? One of the TRANS INVERTER HVT-153 is buzzing / humming on the board I got. Not Bad, is this normal or should...

    No one has any suggestions?

If the power light - lights up and stays lit with the cable unpluged between main & inverter board, would that suggest the main board is good, or could there be a short on the main board as well?

    No I don't have a ESR meter.
Ty all for bearing with me through my learning experience.

I got the other board in the mail today and same outcome still won't power up. I tested the same transistor (Q209) and I got readings off of 3 leads. This is the way I tested it...
"The base-emitter (BE) junction should behave like a diode and conduct one way only.
The base-collector (BC) junction should behave like a diode and conduct one way only.
The collector-emitter (CE) should not conduct either way."...

I'm using a DMM, As for caps I Don't see any bad. They are (Jamicon) & (Su'con) caps. I sent the one board back (2 bad transistors) and ordered another one, should be here today.

  • Re: Transistor Help - Please

ty for the help so far. I'm using a DMM (craftsman) need to eventually get something better. Is there any markings on the transistors to tell what style case it has? If you click on the link and scroll down to "connecting" you'll see what my question is about. I'm refering to style (TO92A, TO92B, TO92C) http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/components/tran.htm#tableRe: Transistor Help - Please<br /> ...he transistors...

I have another question on a different transistor? I can't seem to locate a spec sheet. transistor is a 2SD400(E).

is this a good testing method? Test each pair of leads both ways (six tests in total):

The base-emitter (BE) junction should behave like a diode and conduct one way only.
The base-collector (BC) junction should behave like a diode and conduct one way only.
The collector-emitter (CE) should not conduct either way.

  • Re: Philips lcd 32 inch no power (Updated)

    hello again,

I ordered a used board from ebay and installed it. The buzzing sound went away, but it still won't power up? If I unplug the cable "circled" the power light will stay lit, but no screen?

Could it be the inverter board like (mbates14) suggestted? Or could it be that I got a junk board from ebay?...

  • Transistor Help - Please

I'm working on a philips 32PFL3504D/F7 and I found some bad transistors. I was wondering if anyone has a way to cross these over to another brand or maybe a site that would carry all 3 that I need. I really don't want to order from several places due to high shipping costs for penny parts. Or if someone on here that might want to sell me some?

Part #'s i'm looking for are....
KTA1267, KTC3198 & 2SA950. These numbers are taken from the service manual for this tv. I've also added pictures of the data sheet for each I need....

The LD1117V is a "adjustable" low drop voltage regulator. According to the service manual schematics it says when checking should be +3.3v, so my question is would it be safe to use a 3.3v low drop voltage regulator or should i stick with the adjustable one. Seems easier to find the "fixed" low drop regulators then the "adjustable" ones.

I was wondering where everyone orders there parts from? I'm looking for (LD1117V) low drop voltage regulator, (KTC3198) transistor & (2SC2120) transistor. perferably from one store to save on shipping.

  • Re: Philips lcd 32 inch no power

Ok I got power now, must have been a loose solder joint. I resoldered just about every conection.

Now onto the next problem / questions. The transformer is still buzzing. I've found a service manual and read through the trouble shooting section. It said to test some diodes, transistors, and i think it's called a voltage regulator (LD1117V). What is the correct way to test a voltage regulator? All diodes checked out ok, but I think I have 2 bad transistors. Please correct me if i'm wrong > when checking a transistor you should have...

You should get a reading of about 165 volts across the large capacitor. There is a polarity. The lead of the cap with a strip on it is the negative side.

First I would like to thank everyones help so far. I'm new to electronic repair and trying to learn.

Ok I double checked for power at the large capacitor, when you first touch the leads to it - it will read 82v and drops to 0v in a split second, remove & retouch leads it read...
Measure the voltage across the large capacitor with the power on.

I know this is probably a dumb question, but when checking do you have + & - on the capacitor, if so then I get no voltage. If I hook ground to where the main plug comes in and test each side of capacitor I get a reading of 66.7v. I probably should have been more specific in my last post - I'm only getting a volt reading of 66.7 for the rest of the power board.Re: Philips lcd 32 inch no power

  • Re: Philips lcd 32 inch no power

Ok just a little follow up.

If someone could chime in if i'm doing this correct, and what would cause the voltage drop?

In the photo I showed how I began testing with volt meter. The black spot @ (ac cord in) is what i hooked ground to. The red indicates the path i followed and some readings. all seems good till I got to the (D602) diode 1N5406 the voltage droped to 66.7 volts?...
