• Re: LG 60PB5600 Turning Off

Well, if anyone is still reading the post, the TV still persists with the same issue. Have replaced the YSUS, Y-Buffers, ZSUS and power board and the issue remains???

I have tested the ICs on the buffers and there are no beeps. I am at a loss. The TV powers on with sound when the YSUS is disconnected but as soon as the YSUS is connected the TV powers up but shuts down seconds later. As well, it never shows a picture or illuminates the screen in any way(with or without the YSUS connection).

At this point, I am thinking of using...

Do you think it would be okay to try full power after seeing the results of the DBT?

Let me correct that last post. The TV WILL stay on with sound(as before) with the YSUS disconnected. But, when the YSUS is connected the bulb flickers while the TV power cycles...no sound and the tv will not turn on.

Finally got around to getting the new ZSUS board in(Thanks for the pic it was helpful) and building a dim bulb tester as suggested.

The TV still will not stay on. With the power running through the Dim Bulb Tester(DBT) the sound will come on with no picture as before- if the YSUS is disconnected from the ZSUS. Once I connect the YSUS the bulb(100W) glows brightly flickers and then a clicking noise from the power board and this cycle continues.

I built the dim bulb from the specs at http://doktorsewage.com/tools-of-the-trade-light-bulb-limiter/...

Here is some pics. All I can say is that the video that shopjimmy did made it look like a breeze just like it was when I removed the YSUS cables. My experience with these ribbon cables are quite different...lol.

I saw the video but the tech in the video has no issues with the cables. They seem to pop right out and mine will not. I have tried gently pushing down and pulling up to no avail. Anyways, I just bought a new ZSUS off of Ebay. Hopefully, I will have these cables figured out before it arrives...lol.

By the way, I just noticed that the power cable connection which plugs into my YSUS board looks burnt on the second top metal tab. I performed a continuity test and it is showing connection from the ZSUS end to the YSUS end. Could this be the problem...

Well, I will have to test the transistors with those cables connected as they will not come loose and I am getting so aggravated I will end up yanking them right off...lol. I guess I will just support the weight of the board with some string and use those cables as a hinge to access the back of the board.

I will have to try to find a youtube video. These cables are a real pain in the butt. You can feel them move in and out as they are loose once the connector is pulled out but they will not pop out.

Is there a trick to removing the ZSUS screen cables? The YSUS flipped up and they popped right out. This connector has pulls out but it seems like too much force is needed to disconnect those screen cables? I definitely do not want to damage these.

I have to do some googling to figure out how to properly test transistors...lol.

Do you still think it could be the ZSUS even though I am able to get 200V with it still connected to power board and just the YSUS disconnected from the ZSUS?

VS was around 200v and the VA was around 80-90V

Maybe Sears sent me a faulty YSUS?

Yes, with the YSUS disconnected from the ZSUS. The YSUS gets power from the ZSUS on this model. But when I power on the TV with the YSUS connected I get no VS.

I did not think it would be a YSUS issue because I have replaced it twice with a new board from Sears. The second time is when I replaced the YSUS with the Y-Buffers and I tested the Y-Buffers and there are no beeps when tested.

That is my confusion. If the YSUS was originally shorted by the Y-Buffers then why would it short out again if the newly installed Y-Buffers(installed...

I was thinking that maybe the power board I got from Ebay was bad but the seller has an excellent rating and has been in the TV repair business for years. He asked me to unplug the both power cables(the one to the ZSUS and the other to the main board) and verify that the board has around 200v on the vs. Once I unplugged everything I did get around 200V as he said should happen.

I did notice that there was only one click when I plugged in the tv to do this test where there is usually 1 and then another click a second or two later.

When I have the board plugged in I get 5.2 on the 5V but all the other pins have no voltage. The connector going to the main board seems to have proper readings though.

Same thing with a second multimeter but the grounds come back as .2 rather than .6

all the pins are reading 1(is that not open loop) with the exception of the grounds at .6

Well, I am back. I got the power board today and the same issue is occurring. The TV powers on and as soon as sound comes through the speakers it automatically switches off.

I am at a loss. I have replaced the power board, YSUS board and both the buffers???

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
