jvc acting weird
Don't have the model on hand as im at work. But I have a jvc 48" that started out having horizonal lines. It was many lines and it would flicker and not be steady. After a little while the lines would go away and the picture would be great. Well we turned down the brightness and now the lines never show. However new problem. After about 20 minutes the screen goes dark. Sound and all still works. Turning tv off and back on and video comes back. But again after 20 minutes screen shuts off.

Re: Zenith Z42PJ240 no power
I grabbed a manual from this site
Below is the method it shows for testing power on failure....

Re: Zenith Z42PJ240 no power
Poked and prodded around the board and no change. I did however unplug the main board from the ps board and i could get the relays to click again like it was turning on the tv. Unplug the tv and nothing. So I plug back in the mainboard and as soon as i plug in the mainboard with the power unhooked the relay clicks again.

Re: Zenith Z42PJ240 no power
When the tv doesn't have a standby light and it will not turn on I checked and I get no voltage.

Re: Zenith Z42PJ240 no power
Ok this is odd. Before I plugged in the unit I decided to just double check all grounding screws and make sure they were tight. After that was done I plugged in the tv. Power supply board made a click noise like a relay tripped. Standby light came on and I was able to turn the tv on. Turned it off and on a couple times no problem. I then pulled the power plug. Once I plugged it back in the tv was dead again. No click noise from the psu.
In standby i got 3.5v from the standby pin. nothing from anything else on that header. After turning...

Zenith Z42PJ240 no power
Tv was a dumpster find. Powered on and worked. Took home and it powered on again. Now it gets no power at all. No stand by light. I don't like the power button as its touch sensitive (no actual button). Is there a way to bypass the switch to turn the unit on?
Anyway I checked all the fuses and all are good.
Where do I go from here?...

Re: Any electricians here?
I fully plan to run conduit where the line comes out the side of the garage and then goes into the ground. Only talking about a 3 or 4' span. Just not sure if its 18" or 24" it needs to be buried....

Re: Any electricians here?
Shed will have this. 1-220 outlet for window ac/heater, 8 sockets (4 sockets per breaker), 3 over head fluorescent light fixtures.
This is going to be my electronic workshop. Fixing tv's, computers, etc. Gaming room when nothing else is going on. So I need to be able to run several components at the same time but ill next get close to 100a. 100a for this shed is a little overkill but id rather it be that way.

Re: Any electricians here?
It will be 4 wires. It only goes underground for maybe a foot between the garage and shed. the section of wire that will be under ground will be in conduit. 90% of this wire is going to be in the garage since the panel is across to the other side.

Any electricians here?
I'm getting ready to wire a shed feeding power from my second garage. My garage is on its own service and is 200 amp. My plan is to put a 100amp breaker in and run a feed line to my shed panel. Total distance is 62ft. That is giving 2 extra feet on each end just in case. My father was telling me I should run #4 copper or #2 aluminum. Thats what he told me when we estimated the distance to be 100'. I measured it all out and I only need 62' at max. What is your take on this?

Re: Toshiba 58L4300U no leds
I'll have to see if I can find my caliper this morning and measure it. Thanks for sticking with me through all this all of you.

Re: Toshiba 58L4300U no leds
Here is a shot of the tester.
Before i took the led off this strip i tested removing led's off a strip from another tv that i broke. I put the tester on that led from a different tv and it only went to 2.5v to light it. So i'm assuming the other tv used 3v led's while this tv uses 6v like you mentioned....Last edited by freelancenoob; 10-29-2017, 06:16 AM.

Re: Toshiba 58L4300U no leds
I don't understand what you mean.
If you are referring to which side is positve and which is negative then the small pad is + and the big pad is -. its the only way it will light up with my tester.Last edited by freelancenoob; 10-29-2017, 05:40 AM.

Re: Electronic/computer repair for profit?
You all have valid points. This wouldn't be necessarily a main business. More of a way to make a little money on the side. My main source of income from this would be parting out tv's with smashed screens. Where my full time job is I only work 2 days on and then 4 days off. But I come across 4-5 flat screens a week that people have unloaded because they don't work. I put an ad out on facebook looking for broken flatscreens and you would be amazed at the response i got. Most offering tv's but there were tons asking if I fix them and what...

Re: Toshiba 58L4300U no leds
I notice the wire connector is a bit cheesy as well. Should I bypass that connector and solder the wire directly to the beginning of the strip?
