  • Sony KLV-32M1 flickering/popping

    Hey gang,

Not a regular, but a couple of years back you folks were a huge help in getting a couple of discarded 19" LCD monitors with bad caps repaired. (Worked like a charm, monitors are still in service!) I found a Sony 32" LCD TV (model number's in the title) on the curb near my house. Oftentimes finds like these are broken for good, but just as often they can be repaired or rehabbed. When I got the TV home and turned it on, I was delighted to see that it powered right up! I was less delighted to see how it handled DVD video and audio (video in link):

Yes to each of those questions; I've done my homework. The multimeter is at work right now, but yeah, I've got one.

Sorry about the big pic, I thought the autoscale built into the forum was good enough - won't happen again

Hey guys! Bumping this thread because I have the same issue with the same model. I popped the back off of the monitor and here's a picture.

I'm an absolute beginner when it comes to this stuff. I know what capacitors are and I've used a soldering iron before, but that's about as far as I go. But I got this monitor and another one with the same issue for free, and if it's a matter of replacing $5.00 worth of caps, I want to make a go of it.

Anyone up for helping? Where should I start? Or should I...
