Hallelujah! Success! Months later and I finally completed the job.
I removed the resistor which kind of crumbled off on its own and then tried to put the glob of solder there while the tv was on a stand. Of course gravity did not allow it to work. I was very worried about burning the surrounding components with the soldering iron so gave them a little protection from my unsteady hand and wrapped them some masking tape. Once I laid the tv flat, shone a bright light on the board and had my cousin hold a magnifying glass over it,...

After an illness that sidelined me for awhile, I am getting back to fixing this problem.
I bought all the soldering equipment and practiced desoldering and soldering on an old cassette player that I bought at a garage sale for a buck.
I thought that I was good to go, but looking at that little resistor I had a couple of questions before proceeding because I did not want to mess the whole thing up.
1). Do I need to remove the circuit board from the tv in order to work with the resistor from both sides? (Ugh, big...

Hi Folks, I have the same exact problem with my Pioneer PRO-1130HD tv. I hope that the fix is the same for me. I have attached a couple of pictures. If anyone can tell me if my problem is the resistor, R2401 please let me know or if you are able to notice a different problem from my two pictures. Thanks!!!...
