I have a Fortron FSP400-60PFN power supply that ran for 11 years before it died recently.
Actually, I didn't think it had died because I tested it with a cheap PSU tester and it powered on fine. So I thought it was the motherboard that had died. Well turns out the motherboard is fine, and the PSU died.
So if the PSU works when it's hooked up to the cheap tester, but it doesn't work at all when it's hooked up to a PC, what does that mean? Any guesses as to what's wrong with it, and if it'd be simple to repair?...

Any idea what's wrong with a PSU that runs with a tester but not a motherboard?

How does this PSU look?
I just got a used Sparkle FSP400-60GN. I opened it up and one cap is bulging/leaking. How does the build quality look - will it be a good PSU once the caps are replaced? And would those 2 giant black Teapo LXK 200V 1000μF caps need to be replaced too?

Could a PSU tester cause a power supply to start smoking?
I got this PSU tester recently:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005CTCD6S
I used it to test one of my PSUs and it worked fine.
But I have another PSU - an old PSU that I got from someone off ebay about 10 years ago, which I ended up never using and it just sat on the shelf since then. I decided to use the tester on it. I plugged the PSU into the tester and turned the PSU on. After a couple seconds, the PSU started making a weird noise, and then smoke started coming out of the PSU. I quickly unplugged it.
Is there any chance the tester could...
