Hello folks , need some help with an old Acer 5520 AMD Turion+ Nvidia MCP67.
So far , laptop is running normal except that the internal LCD not showing anything, no backlight no signal. Connected to external monitor i can use the laptop without any problem. I have test already invert and flex cable + the lcd with an other acer , all working. I`ve try to heat up the nvidia chip for 3-4 mins at 170c degrees for a test if anything will change, no result. I can see the nvidia chip working normal when connected to external monitor. What i miss and where should i check ? MOBO is ICW50 LA 3581P...Last edited by xfce; 11-07-2017, 02:49 AM. -

hello,
the easiest way is to check if you get ~4.2v(while charging) on the pins where battery is connecting(for that you need multimeter) . If you get it, means that the route from charging port to the battery is ok. Battery itself should not go above 3.7v (if on the battery is written 3.7v) even when is fully charged. More then that means battery is not good.Leave a comment:

hi and thanks for your help. Dont need to replace anything, i just found if there is a short on the cmos battery means the CPU is burned and on this motherboard CPU is everything. I`m just sharing that to save the work for the next one who will deal with this model.Leave a comment:

. So far what i`ve done is to check PQ301 ,PQ302 and PU301 is where i end up.Except the pins i`ve market with RED on the picture, rest of the pins i get 0v. thank you for your help. yes i do have the schematic but i dont know how to read it or what to look for. What i have found so far is that under the keyboard and little on the CD/DVD have a sticky black dirtiness , could be a coffe or cola. Interested is i cannot find anything burn on the motherboard(except the picture ive attached near the HDMI), i got microscope so i`ve check it well.Leave a comment:

Hello people,
i have issue with my laptop, which i can`t repair alone. Problem is : laptop will not start, led light on the dc port is on when is connected to the adapter , after pressing the start button nothing goes on, no fan spinning , no lights coming on (except power port , which is always on). Sometimes (randomly) laptop will start just like that. After that i can use it as much as i want, i can switch it off and on , no problems. if i leave it for awhile off , then same issue, wont start again. I have it already dissembled , so at the moment i`m testing motherboard + lcd + power... -
