  • Re: Technika LCD32-229 Freezing / Restarting Issues

Thanks for the help everyone, I've fixed it.

I couldn't replicate the issue with the back off, which was no good for testing! So I presumed it might be an overheating problem. Installing a fan inside solved the issue and I then pinpointed the overheating to the main chip on the main board - popping a heatsink on this seems to have fixed it without the need for the fan. I think I might just leave the fan installed anyway to help with the airflow.

This was a favour for a friend and I've advised them that...

  • Re: Technika LCD32-229 Freezing / Restarting Issues

Thanks for the information. Apologies, I forgot to mention that I have a multi-meter, ESR meter and a soldering/hotair station. I'm quite inexperienced, but I have enough basic understanding to test basic components.

Regarding the replacement power board, it has been working for 3 months and from memory, this had replacement caps - I can't recall the manufacturers, but I will open it up and check. I guess it's always possible something could be on the way out. Regarding testing the voltages, I suspect they will all...

  • Technika LCD32-229 Freezing / Restarting Issues

It uses a Vestel 17PW26-4 PSU which I replaced 3 Months ago.

After around 10-15 minutes usage with no issues, the sound begins to crackle, slight pixelation and then it freezes, reboots and the problems repeat.

I have re-tuned the TV, tried on two different aerials at two different locations. The signal is strong in both locations, and I do not believe this to be the issue.

I'm new to TV repair, could anyone point me in the right direction? Do you think it likely to be an issue on the power board or main board?

    Thanks in advance

  • Re: MSI CR500 (MS-1683) Not Running from Battery

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding this? I thought it might be a nice project to enhance my understanding. But it seems like one of those problems that could involve a lot of time investment!

  • Re: Windows 10 Update Breaking Program Install Paths

Windows 10 has the option to Change where new apps are saved to, and even filter installed apps by drive letter, so it's unfortunate that the update caused this issue!

Are all your apps installed on your F: drive? You could try changing the default program files path, but this could cause all sorts of issues, more info here:

  • Re: Mac Pro freezes daily!

Glad you got it sorted, I was just about to post suggesting that it sounded like a RAM issue! Cursor issues and weird 'lag' are common signs of RAM issues - although of course, they can also be caused by other factors, but testing the RAM is usually a good starting point.

  • Re: Hard drive reliability

I've had a few of the WD Blue 3200BEVT drives fail recently with less than 10,000 power on hours! The older drives do tend to last much longer it was common to see 50,000+ hours before disks failed. I think it's to do with the higher data density as previously mentioned.

  • Re: Computer troubles...

    Glad you got this sorted!

As a side note, when it restarts like that after a few seconds, it can sometimes be due to automatic overclocking. Did you have anything like that configured? It does seem odd that it just happened out of the blue, but as others have mentioned, maybe the CMOS battery is on its way out?

  • Re: Vestel 17PW26-4 No Standby

Thanks R_J, I'll check that IC806 & R1012. Regarding the caps, they tested ok with my ESR meter.

Tom, I'm getting nothing on that connector, sorry, I should have mentioned this in my original post.

  • Re: Asus m4n68t-m v2 mother boards and AnarchyDDR3 1866

This board supports DDR 3 RAM at a maximum of 1866MHz (Overclocked) and natively supports 1333MHz. PNY Anarchy modules are not on the Qualified Vendor List:

However, you may still be able to use them in the system. Try resetting the BIOS, there's probably a reset jumper, refer to your documentation...

  • Re: Shutt down issue Win 10 Updates 1709?

What's the issue with shutdown? I've encountered a few issues with the Creators Update where the system would bluescreen upon going into sleep mode. Changing the power plan to high performance would prevent this and act as a workaround. I was unable to identify the driver that was causing the issue and a fresh reinstall of windows seemed to fix it. Is there anything coming up in the Event viewer?

  • Re: MSI GT780DXR (MS-1761) Cuts out on Graphics Load

    jasko_jacker,

I did conduct some research regarding activating Intel HD Graphics on this model, and apparently it isn't possible, even with a custom BIOS. It's not visible in device manager and cannot be activated in the BIOS. I am able to boot into Windows without the card present, and I can see it connected to my router. I was hoping to install some remote access software so that I could run some tests without the GPU to eliminate the issue being motherboard/power related. The video inputs seem to be tied to the...

  • Re: Vestel 17PW26-4 No Standby

Thanks for that Diif, I did take a look on that page myself, but didn't test further as there was no short. I bought a replacement board for my clients TV, but I'd still like to work on this board myself as a project to develop my understanding.

When I get chance in the new year, I'll come back to this board and work my way through it. So any guidance regarding a troubleshooting process to follow would be greatly appreciated. I watched a few videos from MrReeceyburger123 which have been helpful, so I certainly appreciate the time he and...

  • Re: MSI GT780DXR (MS-1761) Cuts out on Graphics Load

It's a 180W power supply. I tried using the benchmark software because the system crashed initially when I was running a basic graphics related task, I think it was just a YouTube video, or it could have been when I was updating the graphics card drivers. I don't think the benchmark software would cause the system to draw excess power, surely the hardware & drivers will cap this at its TDP value? Essentially I'm trying to determine whether the fault lies with the motherboard or the MXM graphics card. I wanted to avoid wasting...

  • Re: MSI GT780DXR (MS-1761) Cuts out on Graphics Load

CPU is at 40°C when booting into Windows. It goes up to a max of 75°C under Prime95 blend. The GPU doesn't get past 40°C using Furmark 1080p Bench before crashing, but it doesn't even get chance to ramp up to full load. The maximum I have recorded the GPU is 57°C. I tried it with the battery, but unfortunately it cut out, and it won't boot up again.

When trying to power on now, I hear a short, sharp 'clicking' sound, the fans don't start and nothing else appears to power up. I'm pretty certain that the sound...

  • MSI GT780DXR (MS-1761) Cuts out on Graphics Load

I have stress tested this system using Prime 95 for 24 hours and there are no issues, it's stable. However, if I add any graphical load from furmark, userbenchmark.com or Kombustor, the system, often immediately, cuts out. Sometimes it won't POST and the fans regularly pulse and the speed seems to increase each time until it reaches the maximum. Sometimes the fans don't come on at all, it won't POST, and in this case, I have to remove the battery. Sometimes, it just happily restarts.

    I have tried the following:
    - Cleaning fans, reapplying thermal paste and have monitored...

  • Re: Vestel 17PW26-4 No Standby

Thanks Vince, here are my results:

    F800 - OK
    Q813 - OK, no shorts
    Q814 - OK, no shorts
    D894 - OK
    R860 - 32.8 (33) Ohms
    R861 - 32.8 (33) Ohms - Can't see an 8661, I presume you meant 861
    R971 - 0.26 (0.22) Ohms
    C840 - 30.78 (33) uf, 0.82 Ohms ESR
IC830 / FAN7711 - Not sure how to test this

    *Expected value in brackets.

Is it best to remove the MOSFETs and test the switching out of circuit? I just tested for shorts. Excuse my lack of knowledge, this is a new area...

  • MSI CR500 (MS-1683) Not Running from Battery

Just some quick background, I'm a computer technician with very basic soldering experience, and I'm looking to learn more about component level repair. I own a multi-meter with diode mode & continuity, an ESR meter and an Antex 760RWK Rework station. I have some basic knowledge about electronics. This is a donated system I'm refurbishing for a low-income individual as part of the Microsoft Registered Refurbisher Program.

The system runs fine from the AC adapter, and has been stress tested for 24 hours with no issues. However when I tried to run off battery, it would cut out...

My client has a Technika LCD32-229 with a Vestel 17PW26-4 Power Board and there is no standby power. I said that I mainly deal with computers, but I'd take a look and could replace the capacitors if they were the issue. Upon inspection, these looked OK, and just to be sure, I confirmed...
