I have found "working" X boards on Ebay really cheap. Y boards, not so much. I may just order an X board and go from there. I have been picking up so much time at work it is becoming hard to get to what I need to do at home. I have found a few x boards under $20, so that wont be much of a loss if that doesn't fix the issue.Leave a comment:

I found two caps with swelling...could this be the reason? With nothing connected I have red a green dots all over...

I see that this is a really old post, although I have the same model tv. The image comes up with red and black dots. Same issue?
I also found 2 caps that seem swollen. I will post pictures of where they are located. I took the cover off the tv and there is a ton of dust built up which I have cleaned off now.

Zenith Z50PJ240 - Power Issues
I have a Zenith Z50PJ240 which has a mind of its own it seems. It has sat a few weeks and finally decided to randomly turn on. When it does come on it works fine but after a short while will turn itself off and will refuse to turn back on. -
