• Re: Problem with mechanical keyboard

Thanks, I bought a USB mini breakout board, will see if that fixes the problem.

• Problem with mechanical keyboard

I have a James Dlonkey 619 keyboard, which lately has been having problems with the "2" and "A" keys, so I opened the keyboard to change the "Pause" and "Scroll Lock" switches for the "2" and "A" ones.
One of the problems, is the mini usb PCB connector, was badly soldered, and it had some glue to make the connectors stand still (I already removed the glue in the pics):

So I used a logitech mouse cable instead,...

• GFX card board: holes sealed with weird stuff

Firstly, sorry for my bad English.

I repaired a gfx card by replacing its capacitators. They were SMD ones (I think thats how they are called) and I replaced them with normal ones.
The problem is that in every pair of cap holes, one is sealed with some kind of metal which isnt tin, because it doesnt melt with the soldering iron.
So ,temporary, I had to solder the caps legs on the pad of the SMD ones, but that is a botched work.

How do I get rid of that stuff in the holes? Thanks

So I replaced the jumper wire with an insulated one.

Rechecked the bridges I mentioned in posts before, and they seem fine. Sucked the tin and the points bridged were very, very near, almost touching, so I guess its ok.

Then added tin on some solders that had little (2 pins from my solders) and the rest seemed ok.

But I tried and... BenQ logo, but its a bit dark and the display was making a sound.
Turned off and on again, same BenQ logo with artifacts. Turned it off and unplugged it.

The...

Yeah,it was insulated. But I got a very short cut to made it as tiny asd possible, but at the end the plastic melted and was loose.

I think it doesnt make contact. But I will replace it.

Ok,so only the picofuse is blown. The transistors that blown twice are also ok, and so the FU9024

The bridge I did to one of the pins from the lifted pads seems also ok, giving continuity.

So only the picofuse is blown, luckily I bought today a 125v one. (Already replaced it, thought havent assembled the board yet)

I attached some pics.

1- The transistors and the irfus.Theyre all ok.
2- Just now I noticed this soldering with the daylight. Its more golden. I just sucked it and replaced with...

Ok, tomorrow im gonna check all the componentes again.

But the last time I checked all the 3 legged components, they were ok except for the 2 transistors (I made a mistake in some post above saying there were 4 blown transistors, the other 2 were double diodes and they were also ok)

nice night guys, uni class starting tomorrow

Diferent voltaje but same amp, the guy told me that the amp is the important stuff and it should work with a 220V fuse.

Yeah, I changed all the blown things, the picofuse (actually used a normal fuse) and 4 transistors.

BTW, the caps are orientated right, Im 100% sure. (white painted side with the negative side, the shorter pin)

Which ones are the fets? When I checked the transistors ,only 4 were blown, the rest were ok.

Im gonna test all the things again, and try to make a better pic, but cant do miracles with the mobile phone (a relative has my cam and he will be out for a long time)

• Re: LCD 19" BENQ T905 problems

So I tested it...no luck

Didnt even show up the BenQ logo. When I plugged it, I heard a spark, but dunno if it was from inside or just the normal spark sound that sometimes is heard when you plug something.

Its like at first, with the green led working ok.

Ok,gonna try with that pin being dry soldered !

Ok, I can solder a wire easily on the pin from the 3rd pic.
But the pin from the 1st and 2nd pic its alone! no traces to anything

• Re: LCD 19" BENQ T905 problems

I used the desolder pump to desolder all the items (thought I didnt add more
solder, never saw that technique on the videos of desoldering I have seen) and only those 2 gave problems.

Maybe scratching the board a bit? What if I just leave a ball of tin? Will it be a dry joint? Maybe painting the place with a pencil? (dunno why this came to my mind)

How about soldering the pins to another bit of the board? On the same trace,of course.

I dont wanna give up yet!

Ok, so I was resoldering all the things you marked.
When I removed 2 of the transformers, one of their pins were without that silver layer on the board, so the tins doesnt sticks well.

I attached some pics, 1 and 2 are the same and the 3 is the other pin.

How can I fix this?...

Oh, thats not the blown fuse, its one on the top right on the pic.Next to the heatsink, only half of it is visible.
Its the picofuse, but I replaced it the 1st time with a cristal one.

Also the normal voltage in Europe is 220V, just saying, dunno if that affects.

• Re: LCD 19" BENQ T905 problems

Ok,went to buy the components but they didnt have the fuse at 125V.
Would one of 220V do the job?

• Re: LCD 19" BENQ T905 problems

Thanks again retiredcaps.

If I didnt resolder the transformers, its because I wasnt sure which ones were them, until jetadm123 pointed them out.

That being said, I also didnt research more, because after checking that the fuse and the transistors were blown, I thought that those were all the problems the PCB had.

One thing im still not sure:
Desolder all 4 transistors and the polyester caps (between the transistors
Is the polyester cap the 'K' cap from my first pic?...

Ok, my mobile is working again.

Took photos of 'problematic' bits:
Photo number. Description
1. Those are the transistors that were originally blown.Theyre blow again (the left arrow actually indicates the trans, not the cap :p)

2.The bottomside of those transistors. Those 2 yellow points, are bridged (they have continuity and the polimeter beeps with the diode/continuity beep setting).
Im not sure if they should be bridged... One is a pin of the 'K' cap of the 1st pic and the...

Ok, so I was going to resolder the transistors today, but tried the display first.

Its broken again

Guess Ill have to change the fuse and the transistors again
