Re: ASUS MAXIMUS VIII IMPACT Boardview, Schematic & Repair Guide
Actually that's the boardview, not the schematic but it will help.
Thanks a lot!...

ASUS MAXIMUS VIII IMPACT Boardview, Schematic & Repair Guide
As the title states i am looking for a schematic and boardview for the ASUS MAXIMUS VIII IMPACT motherboard.
I know that the boardview exists (ASUS MAXIMUS VIII IMPACT REV1.01.fz) but cannot find it free of charge, the schematic however might not be leaked.
For anyone interested, the repair guide is attached to this post.
Thanks....

Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
I haven't opened up the machine after i was able to get the microwave running, so i didn't actually check it but i can't recall seeing a high voltage fuse in there.
All the video's i've seen explaining microwave repair do have one of those, any way i can find out if one should be present and if so, what rating should it have and where in the circuit it should be?
Anyways, here's my checklist for when i next open it up:
-discharge capacitors
-check if there actually is a high voltage fuse...Last edited by Pier; 07-13-2017, 09:20 AM.

Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
Thanks for your insight, after watching some youtube on the subject i have decided to build a capacitor discharge tool and High Voltage Probe with parts i can possibly salvage from dead electronics i have collecting dust.
So i can safely discharge both caps and do some measurements on them the next time i open it up.
I'm having difficulties spotting the water damage, other than some minor oxidation on the solder, but that's to be expected...Last edited by Pier; 07-13-2017, 08:14 AM.

Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
Thanks, i will try this the next time i open it up.
The microwave alone runs fine now that i've took out the bad relay, if i can figure out what exactly the problem is with the rest i'll buy new mica with the other parts i'll need.
I took out the magnetron before and it was very clean, didn't check for continuity though....

Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
I've put back the relays for FCFAN, FC and MW and provided power to the device.
Microwave alone works fine, but if i switch to hot air the fuse blows just like before.
Both motors spin freely.
The biggest reason for me to fix this machine is so i can microwave rice which i can now, so for the time being i'm satisfied but if i have more time i'm gonna look for what's wrong with the hot air.
Maybe if i have time this week i'll switch the relay for the grill and hot...

Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
This site doesn't accept .mp4 and compressed is too big filesize but i took some screenshots of the video.
To me it looks like an arc between the thermoactuator and the waveguide for the magnetron....Last edited by Pier; 07-09-2017, 09:15 AM.

Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
I can't see where the cracked soldering on the board is, any chance you can point it out?
You think if i were to replace the bad relays with new ones, the arc like in the video will probably still be there?
If so, i guess it's no use to switch the relays and do a test?
The markings on the PCB say "FC" "GR" "FCFAN" "MW" for the relays, the shorted one is FCFAN. (the fan for hot air?)...

Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
So, i was thinking.. if i were to replace the bad relay with one of the working ones (i rarely use the grill feature), put back together the device and power it, shouldn't everything besides the grill work? (assuming only the relay is bad)
Or is this a bad idea?
I mean, the worst thing that can happen is that the relay will short again?

Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
I've desoldered the relays and #3 indeed has been welded short.
The other ones look okay apart from some burn marks.
On a scale of minor electrocution to house on fire, how likely is the device to work by just replacing the relays?
I've looked for the same relays (Omron G2R-1A-H 24VDC), but i can only find them in 100pc package, which isn't gonna happen.
It looks like Tianbo...Last edited by Pier; 07-09-2017, 06:01 AM.

Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
I don't know exactly what you mean by "what you have pictured"
Yes, the one you circled is a filter cap for the magnetron and slightly to the right is another filter cap for the quartz heater and hot air element. (that's the main's filter?)
This one?
Can i test this cap when it's removed from the device?
The main's RCD doesn't trip, just the fuse of the outlet i'm using for the oven.
The only cables...

Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
I only know how to measure DC voltage, resistance and continuity. I've got my hopes on the relay too.
I think it's coming from behind the transformer in the middle, where the cavitation chamber (waveguide?) for the magnetron is.
The part with the transformer is the ventilation fan, could that even produce such a spark?
Thanks....Last edited by Pier; 07-07-2017, 05:17 PM.

Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
Thank you.
I took some more pictures including the transformator:

The quartz grill has continuity, i'll check the heater for the hot air tomorrow.
I'm thinking about desoldering the relays from the board so i can have a better look at them.Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse,...OKH7...Last edited by Pier; 07-07-2017, 05:12 PM.

Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
It's 240V @ 50Hz here afaik.
But a transformer doesn't store electricity, right? So as long as it's unplugged i should be relatively safe?
I'm currently taking the machine apart, and i'm not plugging it in until i know i've fixed what was faulty.
Either that or it's going to the dump.
In the last picture it looks like the middle relay is burned and the inside copper contacts melted together, could this make sense?...Last edited by Pier; 07-07-2017, 02:24 PM.

Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
I've added a video to my original post, and here's some pictures:

I was able to identify the red part to the left of the spark which is a thermoactuator (Eltek 100331.11 K T105 12), to the right of the spark is the magnetron itself?Re: Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse,...y the red part...

Whirlpool Combi-oven blows fuse, please help.
I have a Whirlpool combi oven/microwave that some time ago, when cooking rice with the microwave function blew a fuse and keeps doing so when plugged in.
No matter what setting the oven is on, door closed or open.
I've opened the device and there's a spark to be seen when plugged in, hard to tell where it comes from though.
(I think) i know it's not a problem with the outlet/fuse because the oven used to work on the same outlet before. (32A fuse)
I did a check on the internal fuses of the oven i could find and they had continuity.
After...Last edited by Pier; 07-07-2017, 08:00 AM.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hello, i've been repairing stuff ever since i started breaking things.
With electronics i have little knowledge but i learn every day.
