  • Re: iMac os X utilities ?

OS X El Capitan is the last OS your iMac will support. If it doesn't already, add 8GB of ram and maybe a SSD. I'll go a long way in just normal day to day usage. My recommendation, obviously you don't have to.

Since your on a Windows machine. Use Etcher to flash the InstallMacOSX.dmg image to a USB stick. Ignore the missing partition table popup and hit continue.

I absolutely do. And I'm curious to see the results.

started a topic Dell Inspiron 3502 System Password

    Dell Inspiron 3502 System Password

I was told this laptop has extra security. So even if the password is removed from the BIOS dump and properly flashed, the system password gets added back on first boot.

I'd like to confirm this with the fine folks here and maybe work out a fix or simply learn something new from this.

I've dumped this several times, so the BIOS is good with repeatable hashes.

If you know someone with another Mac desktop or laptop. Ask them if they'll make you a USB installer with High Sierra on it. Now that you have that question mark flashing folder, the mac should boot the usb stick once inserted.

It's a simple process if you follow the link below

Check what year your iMac was made via serial number, that way we'll know the highest version of macOS that can be installed. Check under the base of the iMac for your serial number.

  • Re: Troubleshooting a hdd .

Have you tried SpinRite? Maybe your HDD has a bad sector and just needs a little from SpinRite to move bad bit which isn't allowing your HDD to boot.

    I'm guessing your on Windows?
