Re: Samsung DLP LED Driver Issue BP96-01803A
Small recap...
In all the searching I have done, it appears this TV appears to suffer from the 'white dots' issue (fixed 3 years ago), Secondary SMPS caps, and the RED LED burning out.
I fixed the Secondary SMPS and as I indicated i.e. input voltage 300V (coming from the Primary SMPS) and output 12V and 16V voltage (going to the LED Driver). All measure fine.
All 3 LEDs appear to be working
How do you test the LED?
All 3 LEDs appear to light up, so I assume they...

Re: Samsung DLP LED Driver Issue BP96-01803A
The flashing LEDs I was referring to are the ones
indicating the power status on the front of the TV.
the RGB LEDs inside the TV appear to be fine. I disconnected 1 and had 2 always connected. The issue with tv screen turning off still ocurred.
This may be a lost cause.

Re: Samsung DLP LED Driver Issue BP96-01803A
Unfortunately the LED driver is a single board, which all 3 LEDs connect to. So if it turns out to be an issue with the LED driver, I will have to replace it. But, maybe this may isolate the circuit on the driver, causing the issue.

I do not believe I actually have tried that. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a shot.

Re: Samsung DLP LED Driver Issue BP96-01803A
Well, I tested the 3 LEDs with a 9v battery, and all 3 LEDs stay on without any issue. The Primary SMPS has the Sam-Wha caps (which I replaced on the Secondary SMPS which were bad), but I did not replace any of them, given none of them appeared bad or puffy. I guess I can go ahead and replace those caps (cheaper than replacing the LED Driver). If that does not fix the issue, I guess this project will come to a conclusion.

Re: Samsung DLP LED Driver Issue BP96-01803A
Hi Diah,
Thanks for the reply.
I had some difficulty understanding.. Are you suggesting that I power the individual RGB LEDs (one at a time) by an independent power source, and then turn the TV on to see if get the blank screen?
Thanks.

Samsung DLP LED Driver Issue BP96-01803A
Hi,
Anybody have experience fixing the Samsung DLP TV (HLT6187) LED Driver board BP96-01803A?
I have replaced all the bad caps on the Sub-SMPS. The screen eventually turns off. All 3 LEDS (RGB) appear to be good i.e. all 3 colors are displayed on the screen, when the screen is on.
Eventually the 3 leds on the TV panel all flash, after the TV attempts to power up. From the service manual, that appears to indicate a bad Sub-SMPS or LED Driver.
When the screen goes blank, I did confirm I was getting +12V and +16V from Sub-SMPS to LED Driver....

Re: Samsung 52" LN52A550 - Bad panel or TCON...
Hi budm,
I did press down pretty hard on the tab above where the vertical ranbow of colors appeared, but that did not seem to do anything.
Just to be clear is the pressure suppose to be on the flat ribbon at the point where it is bonded to the panel or where the driver chip is bonded to the flat ribbon or both? Hopefully that makes sense.
WHen I put it back together, I did place a thick piece of the heat sink matriel about 1/8" thick (kinda rubbery) I grabbed off of a spare board,...

Samsung 52" LN52A550 - Bad panel or TCON...
I obtained a 52" Samsung LN52A550 which did not initially turn on. The culprit being the power supply caps (blue sam-wha XC series 1000uF 10V), which I fixed.Everything was looking good for awhile. After some cleaning and putting it back together, I connected a HDMI source finally to see some images. After a few moments, right down the middle (left half of the screen) a 5" vertical bar of very colorful lines appeared.
The vertical sets of lines appear in front of anything that is on the screen e.g. menu is behind the lines.
I noticed when I shut...

Re: Soyo-SY-P4I875P -Bad video card or motherboard...
It turns out it was my Radeon 9800 pro 256M agp video card. I came across, after googling, the process of baking the video card. I decided to give the oven bake option a try. I pre heated the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. After baking for 7 minutes, the issue no longer exits. My video card appears to be working agin.

Thanks for the comments.
From the very start (POST/BIOS) it remains garbled. It does not clear up. I also did try different monitors, with the same results.Last edited by richr69; 08-07-2013, 08:08 AM.

Soyo-SY-P4I875P -Bad video card or motherboard...
I have the SY-P4I875P DRAGON 2 v1.0 Black Label motherboard which I recapped back in 2010 and fixed a blown mosfet near the cpu, thanks to this forum. Needless, to say I have gotton my moneys worth on this motherboard and original video card, which I built back in 2004.
However, tonight all of a sudden I get a garbled screen during the POST. It looks more like garbled blocks. Anyway, I spent sometime investigating my issue i.e. I disconnected the hard drive tried a different agp video card (known to work on my other pc), with the same result. Also tried different memory and that...

The lamp(s) clearly goes out. As far as sound goes, I did not have it connected to any external sources yet. I will try when I get home.

Initial thoughts on Polaroid TLX-0420B...
Well, I obtained a 42" Polaroid TV which I did not have a chance to look at until yesterday. So I decided to power it and see what happens. It powered up fine and I was abale to scroll through the menu, etc. So it appeared the only problem with it was it had a black vertical line (pixel width) on the right side of the screen.
I took the TV appart so I can get access to the ribbon cables on the LCD. My hope was that it was a bad connection. So after taking it all apart down to the LCD and powering it back up, I tapped the ribbon cable and the black line went away. Actually,...

Re: NIKOS MOSFET replacements
Thanks. I went ahead and ordered the parts from Digi-Key. Worst case I'm out 4 bucks.
