    started a topic Lg 55lw340c

    Lg 55lw340c

    I purchased a LG EAY64269401 for a 55LW340C-UA-BUSWLJR due to the R LEDs being dead. While t-shooting, I swapped the leads between L and R and the L was dead. This told me the R LED driver was bad, hence ordering the PS. Once I installed the replacement PS, the set worked great, but after about 10 minutes the R LEDs were dead again. I pulled the screen to see the first 3 LEDs on the strip are internally burnt. I have located replacement LEDs and ordered. Do you have any recommendations on repairing the PS PCB I just installed? I do not have a schematic for this set. Thank you - Mark

  • Philips 40PFL4908/F7 Dead

    Have this set and the customer said it just would not turn on one day. Q601 is shorted, R611 and F602 are open. I do not see anything else as bad. Does anyone know of anything else I should check before replacing these parts?

    OOPs, just rechecked and found D653 shorted...same question: Does anyone know of anything else I should check before replacing these parts?

    Yes, it fixed the shutdown and occasional turn on's. The only thing that does not work is the keys on the front do not work. The remote works fine. I found out later that there may be a diode problem with the touchpad board, but I cannot find any details as to the fix.

  • Re: 42LC7D Backlights burnt

    So I replaced all of the caps on both sides to the CCFLs and two of 18 lamps. When firing up, the power is arcing across the cap even though there is a gap in the board. This causes the associated lamp to glow bright and the others to be very dim. The arc is pink in color and burns the outer part of the cap and board. I can clean the parts, but the next time I fire up the tv, it arcs at another cap. Any Ideas?

  • Re: 42LC7D Backlights burnt

    Understood. I read in another thread that if the caps read resistance as a quick check, the lamp will be extremely bright; which is my case.

    I have replaced the bulb from CCFL Warehouse but they did not have the 3.4mm x 940mm lamps. I ordered 3.0mm x 940mm. This circuit looks good, but several of the other caps burned up when I attempted to turn on the set. Is it typical that many of theses caps will go out at the same time? Should I just replace all of the caps?

  • 42LC7D Backlights burnt

    Have a problem with a 42LC7D that will flash one backlight three times during power on. I measured the resistance of all the caps next to each lamp and the one that turns on has 9.9k and 8.9k ohms on the two caps. From what I understand, these caps are leaking and need to be replaced, right?

    Also, all other lamps glow except for one. The pcb was burnt below the lamp and it appears the lamp itself has a crack where it arced to the PCB.

    I scraped the pcb underneath, and did not see anything. Are these lamps replicable? One cap for this lamp measures 2.8k ohms...

    There is a list of flash codes listed next to the board. The number of flashes will tell you what voltage is not in spec.

    Job complete. So it started with a 7 flash Vamp error that was taken care of by ShopJimmy's Samsung BN44-00222A Power Supply Component Repair Kit, then replacing DS803 to get the 4 flash Vs error fixed, and its back on the wall. Lucky nothing else was bad.

    Thank you tom66. I checked the y and x but cannot find a short. Keeping my fingers crossed when I get the diodes replaced.

  • Samsung PN50A550S1FXZA with BN44-00222A Power Supply is dead

    TV went out the other day with multiple replay clicks and 7 flashes on the BN44-00222A Power Supply indicating Vamp error. I found a cold solder joint on DS803, a blown 803 fuse, and shorted QS801/802. After replacing parts from ShopJimmy's Samsung BN44-00222A Power Supply Component Repair Kit, I get the same symptom except with 4 flashes indicating Vs is dead. Vs measured 0v throughout the attempted turn-on. Va is good. I looked a little more and now I found DS803 to be shorted between pins 1-2 (thought I checked before but may not have, so it may have been shorted all along).

    Ok, got an idea to disconnect the connector going to the IR sensor after I turned the set on; no luck..shut down
    Disconnected the cable going to the touch pad after turn on; no shut downs. Looked up the part number BN96-12641D to find this a problem with Samsung sets; the touch pads become highly sensitive. Replacements are difficult to find and removal from the set is difficult because it is glued to the front bezel.

    I traced the runs and removed the Blue, Green, and Yellow wires from the connector at the Main...

    The sticker says:
    Va = 55 and measured 53.9
    Vs = 198 and measured 199.2

    These were taken with PS on (using bypass method listed above) and are stable.

    With everything connected, the 5.3v measures 5.1 and with VS-ON measure 3.2
    Are these within tolerance?

    The voltage is 396 across the main capacitor on power board...working on the bypass setup now.

    Checked the solder point...it was covered in flux. The connection is good.

  • Samsung Plamsa turns itself off PN58B540S3FXZA

    I have a Samsung Plasma that turns itself off just like someone used the remote; picture turns black, no sound, and a couple second later, the relay clicks and power turns off. When running, the picture is great; no lines or distortion.

    This set was given to me by a friend and after several internet searches, I purchased a main board. This fixed the problem for about 4 months. Luckily I had a 2 year warranty on the board and received a second main board. This one lasted a few weeks before the symptom returned. Sometimes it will stay on for hours, sometimes only a few seconds. I...

    Hello. I'm new here also. Have electronic training for medical equipment and basic electronics. worked several years as a tv road tech for Circuit City and now working educational technology and multimedia. Coming here to get help with these Samsung plasma sets that keep turning off. Have two, repaired one main board with ShopJimmy kit and its been working great. Having issues with the other one so I need to post my problem.
