Greetings all -
Now that I am done school, it's time to get my own DMM - can't use their stuff anymore.
I'm used to using Fluke at school (forget which model number), and I know they can get pricey quick. I'm looking for the best "bang for the buck" one in terms of being able to do resistance, capacitance, etc. for all around electronics repair. I don't need a benchtop one.
Any suggestions?

Bluetooth Pinout for a Gateway/Arima 40GAB1800-F220/40GAB1800-F320
Greetings all,
I am doing some work to a relative's Gateway W350A laptop. He requested Bluetooth to be added. Luckily for him there is a motherboard slot for Bluetooth and I do have a spare Broadcom BCM92045NMD module that is compliant with this Gateway model.
The problem I am having is that I cannot find the pinout for the Bluetooth on the motherboard end. I have the pinout for the Bluetooth module, and I even have the right sized JST connectors for both module and motherboard end; but I have looked high and low for the pinout schematic for a motherboard P/N... -

Just a quick follow-up: had a friend do surface-mount solder on the fuse, and we are good to go!

Apologies - that fuse is really small so I had to use some force on the probe to get a reading. But I can confirm that I get one side voltage, the other side I do not.

Here's what I did.
Black lead on ground, red lead checking fuses.
Results are as follows:
F2 Fuse, left side = 24.22 VDC
F2 Fuse, right side = 24.22 VDC
F1 Fuse, left side = 0.08 VDC
F1 Fuse, right side = 24.22 VDC
Sorry of the "left" and "right" are confusing. Just makes it easier in my head.Leave a comment:

All,
There's only one side of continuity between F2 and F1.
Here's what I did for measurements. I called them left and right.
Left Side F2 to Right Side F1: 0.3 Ohms
Right Side F2 to Right Side F1: 0.3 Ohms
Then,
Left Side F2 to Left Side F1: 62.3 kOhms
Right Side F2 to Left Side F1: 62.6 kOhms
So, I believe F1 is bad, but does the "left" side of F1, being high resistance, indicate a problem in the...Leave a comment:

Maybe I have my terminology mixed up. Sorry.
When I tested F1 with the black lead on ground, there was hardly any voltage on either side (0.003 VDC). This was with the TV powered on.
With the TV powered off, I put it in continuity, and there wasn't a continuity beep coming from the meter like F2. I think we can rule out F2 at this point.

F2 is good with continuity. F1 is not. I did the diode test on F1, without power, and showed that it was not open.
So I believe F1 is the culprit. What are my options?

When I tested F2, the black lead was on earth and I received 24.22 V on both sides of the fuse. Is this normal?

Similar to my response to diif, I received 0.003V on both sides of the fuse when the black lead was on earth. Apologies for not being clear.

Fuse F2 shows 24.22 Volts on either side. Fuse F1 shows 0.003 V.

I'm just curious, what does the F2 fuse have to do with the inverter board? Is it the whole fuse for the board?

now, on the inverter board, check the dc voltage on each side of the fuse f2 and report back. make sure it is resecured prior to applying power. cover can stay off.
Answer: F2 appears to be a surface mount fuse such that it cannot be removed without desoldering. When power applied, I get 0.000VDC across it.
in a dark room, is there a small splash of backlights on start up?

Sorry on the delay - misplaced my multimeter so I had to borrow someone else's
Anyway, per the advice received here so far, and the Toshiba manual, here's what I got:
P803 test:
Pins 1-5, in standby, were about .01-.03VDC, so not much. When the unit was turned on, all pins had a 24.23 VDC reading.
P802 test (per Toshiba flow diagram):

Let me know if these are good enough or if you need close-ups.
First one is of entire back side. Just to orient you, the yellow power board is the top of the TV.
2nd is main board. 3rd is power board. 4th is inverter board.
Let me know if those look good as well.

With flashlight do you see image with menu up? Yes! Just tried this test. Yay!
Are backlights on? I do not see any backlights on.
In darkened room do you have flash when first turned on? No, I do not notice a flash.
