• Sharp Aquos LC-37D62U - Shuts Off

I have a Sharp Aquos LC-37D62U that I got used (free) because it randomly shuts off. Could be 20min, hours or even go all day no issue, just randomly shuts off for about 5sec and turns itself back on again.

Seems to be a VERY common issue with these older Aquos TV's, found lots of info about the issues, except mine seems to be a bit different.

From what I've read, the power LED light should blink a code

1x per second (constant, steady blink) = bad inverter/lamps
2x per second = bad power supply
3x per second = bad main board

But,...

Thanks for the response... if not likely a cap issue, then not really a risk I want to attempt.

• LG 55LM5850 - Blue Screen

Had some great luck on here a few months and was able to fix a pair of Samsung screens with slow power on issues and dark screens... about $10 worth of caps each and both good as new.

Saw a 55" LG TV for sale on the local buy and sell page, LG 55LM5850 that says for parts only, blue screen.

If I can get the guy down enough in price, may be worth a gamble... but wanted to run it by you guys first... would something like a blue screen only be a capacitor issue?

On Google, there's a lot of weeding through junk to find information, saw a few posts...

• Re: Samsung 204B rev0.1

Thanks, but already ordered them. Didn't get any response so had to guess... matched the specs as close as I could (if not exact I went for higher ripple) then went by whatever had the longest lifespan rating (hours@temp) and price of course.

• Re: Samsung 204B rev0.1

Well... unfortunately, I didn't seem to get much help on this one.

After a lot of research, I did manage to make a better list of compatible capacitors based on the specs I found online, and new found knowledge of ripple ratings, and using my caliper to get physical dimensions.

This list is for DigiKey.ca, I suspect the part numbers will work for the USA site as well. I'm sharing it on my Google drive in case anyone else like me is having issues with these monitors and needs new parts. Both of my screens are rev0.1, but I included...

• Re: Replacing Caps - Ripple Question

Maybe... if it works.

Building a cabinet, fine tuning the design before I start cutting wood. Still stuck between using my RaspPi, or going way over budget and building a basic PC that will work better and play more, but again, cost more as well.

I definitely wanted a 4:3 monitor though, since pretty much everything between 1980-2000 was 4:3. Lots of 5:4 monitors, close but not what I was after. Outta no where a few Samsung 204B's showed up for sale, but all with the same issues.

The one I have already...

• Re: Replacing Caps - Ripple Question

Thanks!

For ones where it's a coin toss, I've been going for the ones rated with the higher lifetime@temp rating. Also, filtered to only show Nichicon, Panasonic, Rubycon and United Chemi-Con... I think half of my cart are Nichicon and half Rubycon.

Actually, may be picking up a 2nd Samsung 204B this weekend for $10, with the slow power up issue. Been so long since soldered anything, and was never really very good, a backup would be good. Plus if fixed for another $10 worth of parts, sell it. Lot's of people using the...

• Re: Replacing Caps - Ripple Question

Thanks... so when matching/replacing old caps, if you can't find an exact match, you can always go higher on the Voltage rating and Ripple and be safe.

Thanks

• Replacing Caps - Ripple Question

Hey guys, I have a monitor I'm looking to repair (see other thread) and I think from all the research I got it sorted out, but before I click to order, I had a question about 'ripple'...

If say I have a cap that's 820mA@100KHz and I want to replace it, all other specs like uf, voltage, physical size, etc is the same... but can't match 820mA exactly, is it better to get something higher? or lower?

Also... sometimes I see them listed @100KHz or @10KHz.

I know 1A - 1000mA
...

• Re: Samsung 204B rev0.1

Using this thread, there was a PDF link for the old CapXon capacitors, that hopefully are the same series...

Based on the below CapXon info... I think I know what I need. Changed a few items... from what I understand I used the Ripple info below, and on Digikey I used the 'Ripple Frequency - High Current' at 100KHz and matched the number or went higher.

For the 47uf50v for example, only 2 options shows... Nichicon was 230mA@10KHz (not 100KHz)... Panasonic...

started a topic Samsung 204B rev0.1

Samsung 204B rev0.1

Building an arcade cabinet, so needed a 4:3 LCD which (in my area) is hard to find. Occasionally a Samsung 204B shows up, but often with capacitor issues, but for the lack of options, I decided to grab one to fix myself.

Powers on, takes a long time for the screen to finally show up, and kinda dim.

I was going to buy a kit off eBay, but wanted to make sure I was getting good parts and the 100uf425v capacitor that the kits don't have. I figure, if replacing the others, may as well replace it as well.

Using www.digikey.ca (Canada) and I've done my...
