Well, i dont have a workstation. But im pretty crafty so im not scared to try things. Just not sure which direction to go, id like to fix it the cheapest way, but if im better off just trying to find a used set on ebay then thats what i will do.
But i dont want to spend time and money on something that is just going to go out again due to a design flaw.

Re: LG 47LW5600 Has picture, No backlight, then I made it worse :-)
Ok upon further research these are just lit by left and right led strip/brackets.
They look to go from 60-175ish on ebay.
So is there some way to modify the led driver so it doesnt pump out so much power? Or is it good enough to keep the brightness down.

alot of LG LEDs going out??
So i have another thread on an LG 47lw5600 LED tv which has no backlight. Im waiting on some parts to come in the snail mail before I can test it, but I have been researching the issue online and it seems that ALOT of these things are burning up the lighting elements. Sounds as if they are pushing to much power through the LED strips. I see alot of people recomend lowering the brightness on them to reduce the risk of them burning up.
I may be wrong here, but what I noticed is that the majority of these TVs doing it are 3D tvs. When in 3d mode, any display device has to put out ALOT...Last edited by Lawdawg79; 06-02-2017, 12:04 PM.

Illinois, Just about 20 minutes across the river from St.Louis... were still running in the midish 80s right now, 57 tonight!! but its HUMID so even 65 doesnt feel all that pleasant.
Last year we had a portable air conditioner in the bedroom to keep it cool in there. But the problem was the central AC having only one central air return. I knew My problem wasnt supply of cold air, it was removal of heat from all the rooms. Did a return air duct project over the winter so its not as bad in the bedroom...

Re: LG 47LW5600 Has picture, No backlight, then I made it worse :-)
No worries, I ordered some fuses but I went with cheap and longer shipping vs expensive and get it this week. I do wanna get this thing up as soon as I can but its not as if we are without a TV. I looked through some scrap circuit boards I have, but no luck on any of those either.
Last summer I put a 50" LG plasma in my master bedroom as an upgrade to the 42" I had in there since 08'. I didnt think about how much heat a 2006ish model 50" plasma puts off. We have to keep the bedroom door...

I certainly hope so.
Where do you suggest I look for LED light strips for this thing? Google has too many results, and not all of them seem correct.
Also, maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me, but to me this area on the back side of the board does not look healthy, correct me if im wrong....

Re: LG 47LW5600 Has picture, No backlight, then I made it worse :-)
thanks, good to know. I have thought about buying/fixing/selling. Maybe after this fix I will start to think about it lol. In the past all the issues have been obvious or the fix already found by another. This one not so much....
I took a walk through the board again today. I highlighted the wrong part which I shorted, have circled the right one. I also found a fuse with no continuity, it did have continuity last night before the short, it was one of the first things i tested. So thats on the parts...Last edited by Lawdawg79; 05-30-2017, 11:12 AM.
