I have a nice blue hp Stream Laptop that a friend of mine giving me to look at for him. It is giving me the blues

He tell me his wife set a password on Windows and.. Well... Is not windows it is the BIOS...

When the laptop is turned on it is asking for a BIOS Boot Password... Which his wife has forgotten

Anyhow... I tell him I would see if I could help him with this issue.

I would like to chime in and make a few observations. I see many laptops and have come across this exact same issue, is not particulare to one brand name. Currently i have a Sony MBX-223 showing the same 'no power issues'. I check the board and find that "+1_05V_VTT" is shorted to ground. Had the exact same issue on a Dell N4040, a short in the 1.05V VTT line...

I noticed that they both have something in common. Both units are using the same chipset family; The Dell using the "Mobile Intel® HM57 Express...

Haha.... Anyhow, not too personal. I graduated a long time ago... Bachelor of Electronics Engineering (or sumthin' like that ... And i'm still a Bachelor after all these years... Spending most of my time fixin' old brokendown laptops and desktop computers... Upgrading and repairing network systems... And writing 'programs' for customized needs... Blah... Blah... Blah...

Anyhow...
