  • Re: Magnavox HDMI Loses sync on cable box,not computer

Hi Budm. I have pictures of the main board and the power supply but I don't have the cap designator information, sorry. The cap was swollen and leaking. It was easy to spot. The company name is CapXon and it is black with yellow writing.
I would like to upload the pictures but I don't see a button to upload. I can put an arrow on the main board picture showing the cap location. Will that be ok? Thanks. Frank

  • Re: Magnavox HDMI Loses sync on cable box,not computer

I found a bad 330 uf /16 volt cap on the main board. Replaced it with a 330 uf / 25 volt capacitor and the set is working fine now on the HDMI input from the cable box. The bad cap was located near the top of the large metal shield on the main board. The problem also fixed an issue with the component input which may be internally connected to the HDMI circuitry on the main board but I'm not sure since I don't have a schematic. Hope this information helps someone else with the same set, Magnavox model 19MF338B/F7. Thank you....

The HDMI input was never used before so I have no history. Strange that it works fine with a computer and not with a cable box. I tried a new HDMI cable and a new box with the same results. Once it starts to squeal and go out of sync, you can't even turn the set off from the remote or the switch. You have to pull the plug.

  • Magnavox HDMI Loses sync on cable box,not computer

I have a Magnavox model 19MF338B/F7 LCD TV. It works fine on all inputs except HDMI and component. If I plug my computer into the HDMI input, it works fine. If I connect a cable box HDMI output or any other TV converter HDMI output, it loses sync and I get a loud high pitched screeching sound.

I have tested the RF and composite inputs which work fine. I'm guessing the main board may have a problem. I am willing to fix it if possible. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Magnavox 19 inch blacks out loses picture won't turn off

I have a Magnavox 19 inch model 19MF338B that turns on fine and after about 10 minutes the picture will go black and I hear a high pitched tone. At that point, I can't turn the set off from the switch on the set or the remote. If I unplug the set and plug it back in, it works fine again for a little while. Sometimes it will fix itself and the picture and sound come back. I tried using the component input and the HDMI input with the same results. I also replaced the cable box which did not fix the problem.

I'm not sure if the problem is the main board or the power supply which includes...

  • Re: Samsung UN32H5203AFXZA no backlight-LED flashes 6 times

I removed the display to see how many LEDs were still working. The bottom LED strip is dead and there are only 5 LEDs still working on the top LED strip. I made sure I had the correct LED strip part number, D3GE-320SM1-R2[13.07.10] and I ordered two new ones.

Is this a common problem with these sets or was the problem caused by the backlight adjustment being set to the maximum level which caused the LEDs to burn out?

    Thanks!

The backlights came on and stayed on but I only tested it for about 10 minutes. The screen was not at full brightness but that makse sense. I used an HDMI input to make sure everything looked OK.

  • Re: Samsung UN32H5203AFXZA no backlight-LED flashes 6 times

I used the 15 watt bulb and the set turns on and looks like it is working OK.
Can I repair the open LED strip or is it advisable to just replace both strips?

Thank you again budm! I really appreciate your help.

  • Re: Samsung UN32H5203AFXZA no backlight-LED flashes 6 times

Thanks for your reply budm. Yes, that is my power supply board.

Would the second LED string being an open circuit be the reason why the LED flashes 6 times without powering on?
Is there some way I can make the set turn one with just one strip just to test it, before going any further? Thanks!

  • Samsung UN32H5203AFXZA no backlight-LED flashes 6 times

When I plug the set in the front LED flashes 6 times and goes out. No sound no picture. The T-Conn board has 3 blue LEDs turned on. The main board has one large chip with a heat sync which gets hot after a while. Seems a little hotter than it should be since it has a heat sync. No other visible signs of bad caps or burned components. I tried disconnecting the main board from the power supply but the LED still didn't light. How can I determine if the problem is the power supply or the main board? What is the blink code for 6 flashes? Thank you in advance for your help. I really appreciate it!...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi. My name is Frank and I used to be a TV repair guy until I moved on to computers back in the 70s. My repair skills are a little rusty but I remember just enough to be dangerous with meter probe. I really appreciate having a forum like this since I don't know anyone who still repairs anything anymore and there is no place else to go for advice on repairs. Thanks in advance to anyone who provide help. I really appreciate it!
