Re: Samsung LA32M51BS
Yes, this was obviously my first attempt however I was not able to find anything. Are there any websites that specialise in schematics or should I contact Samsung and ask for it?

Re: Samsung LA32M51BS
Ok, will do. Does anyone know where I might be able to source a schematic for this circuit in order to find the value of the fusible resistor?

Re: Samsung LA32M51BS
Thanks for your reply Bill, very detailed!
I am not sure of the history of the set, I bought it cheap from an auction company which is responsible for selling goods from insurance claims etc. A couple of screw pads on the plastic back cover have broken through, however this would suggest that someone has hit the side of the set rather than opened it.
Would you recommend, as a first step that I find a replacement for this resistive fuse and see what happens? I am in my second year of an Electrical engineering degree, so I know a bit about...

Re: Samsung LA32M51BS
I have just had a look on the internet and located the powerboard on Ebay for this TV.
It is part number BN94-00699D interestingly enough it is from a New Zealand supplier which is where I live, however it is still $120US which I would like to avoid paying if possible!

Samsung LA32M51BS
Hi guys
I have a 32" samsung LCD that when switched on, the power light will switch on and off in time with a clicking noise in the back of the set.
I have opened the TV up and found two burn marks on the power board.
As seen in the pictures there is a burnt out component that looks like a resistor, however I believe is actually a fuse (labelled FD802S)
There is also a burn mark near the transformer (also pictured)
All the capacitors on the board look fine (no bulging etc)
Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem...

Re: 19 inch samsung powers off when VGA plugged in.
Ok, thanks for all your messages guys. When I get home I will have a look at the board and make a call from then. I have a pretty decent soldering iron and have done quite a lot of soldering but I'm not sure if that will suffice!
Thanks again
Ed

Re: 19 inch samsung powers off when VGA plugged in.
Hi
The model is a SyncMaster 913V 19inch
Here are some photos, the capacitors circled with green are all Samxon brand and have been checked.
There is nothing wrong with the PC that I plugged into the monitor either, it has been used with many other monitors just fine.
Thanks again
Ed...

19 inch samsung powers off when VGA plugged in.
Hi
I have a 19 inch samsung LCD monitor which turns on ok, with power lights going and no signal message on screen. However as soon as I plug the VGA cable into the monitor, the backlights switch off and the monitor seems to just shut down. I have opened the monitor up and checked the capacitors. Most are Samxon and none of them are bulged. I have removed four of the large samxon capacitors from the low voltage side of the power supply and checked these on an RCL meter, all of them tested ok. Any ideas where to go now?
Thanks
Ed

Re: Viewsonic VX2235WM
Thanks for your reply PlainBill, I replaced about 7 of the capacitors and now it works fine. Just wondering, is it likely for these to fail again? As in could there be another faulty component that caused their failure or is this unlikely?
Thanks again for your help.

Re: Viewsonic VX2235WM
Just as an update, I have opened it up and identified several bulging CapXon capacitors. I will order and replace all of them on the board anyway I suppose.
Do I need to worry about leakage or ripple current when selecting new ones?
Also will it be necessary to replace the large capacitor next to 3 pin power input? It doesn't have a visible bulge.
Thanks againLast edited by edharvey; 07-15-2010, 02:31 AM.

Viewsonic VX2235WM
Hi guys
I have a Viewsonic VX2235WM which is very temperamental.
To get it to work you often have to unplug the power and then plug it back in, is this likely to be a cause of bad capacitors? This is not a backlight issue as when the monitor is working it is fine. Another thing I have noticed is when I switch it off the screen turns off and the power light switches off for a second and then stays on. I would have thought it was meant to flash when off?
Thanks for your help
