    Thanks for the advice so far guys - I'm in Brisbane, Australia. I would guess that Jaycar / RS Components / Farnell would be my best bets locally - but I'm not against buying online if it works out well.

    Hi Guys,

    I have an old BenQ FP71E which started playing up about a year ago - if turned off, when trying to turn it on the on light would come on, but then when you would expect the 'splash screen' there would be no display, a high pitched noise would sound and the 'on' light would go out. If I tried to turn it on a few more times (and/or left it in the sun) it would eventually start. I found myself leaving the monitor on for a month at a time! and then eventually splashed out on a new 24".

    So now... for a bit of fun, I thought I might crack it open and see if...
