in case anyone is not aware, a VBios dumop can be made straight from Windows with for example GPU-z and even uploaded online. Unfortunately nobody did yet.

hi, I'm afraid I do not have any. The bios chips are on the boards and seem fine, I cannot dump them without desoldering. I tried to make dumps from Windows but it never worked, the chip wasn´t properly detected.
At the moment when I tried to replace it, I thought it was the main BIOS chip and the one I tried to replace broke. The other is the one giving the 43 error.
I assumed the BIOS was bad because it wouldn´t store the service tag ( but as described above, changing the vbios seemed to have fixed it ).
It's a 6 GB 1650 or 1660 (Ti). If it's helpful I can try to solder of...

do you have a dump of the VBIOS chip as well ?
UV31 is 25Q80EWIG saved file has size 1,024 kb
I requested it also here :

Was anyone able to dump that chip? I might be able to make a dump of it with the 43 error but then I would have to solder it off again. I ordered new chips and have a programmer so it would be great if anyone has a dump. I have two boards that need it. It's very likely to fix the 43 error issue, which is what many people have reported ( and under warranty Dell would replace the motherboard )

Thank you for the write up. I pretty much did that and Python never got added to PATH.
When trying to run from the dir, all kinds of dependencies didn't work, because Python couldn´t even finf standard libs.
Absolute Windows related garbage, since in the PATH variables, I did see the directories set properly - they just didn´t have any effect.
After losing many hours trying to solve that and getting sick and tired of it, I ran it once on Linux and it just works, despite the author writing about compile errors.
So for anyone having those PATH issues, or any other, I recommend...

Dell XPs 9500 UV31 dump request
hi,
I have been trying to fix an issue with a Dell XPS 9500 board that has an infamous error 43, meaning the dGPU doesn´t start properly.
I think it's an 1650 or 1660 NVidia card.
In my infinite wisdom I thought I was replacing the BIOS chip ( one board wasn´t able to store the service tag ) but I saw now that it was the UV 31 chip I tried to replace not the actual BIOS UV 8.
I got on to that via : https://***********/threads/xps-15-9500-la-j191p.41086/
The UV31 chip is mentioned there, I was unable to take it off in one piece from the working...

I found some shorts near PVC183 on the board. I soldered off the caps near but the short is still present.
I found some additional information on page 37 of the schematics, a few mentions of DVT1 modify GPU sequence .
Not sure if that is related to powering the dGPU off ?
Does anyone know how to proceed? Any help is greatly appreciated!...

Dell G15 5510 troubleshoot non-working dGPU or disabling it
hi,
I have a Dell G15 5510 with an intel 10th gen 8 core and I believe a RTX 3060.
I bought it as is and it seems to have had some liquid spill.
Currently the dGPU is not shown in the BIOS and does not seem to work at all ( not in dev manager either ).
Besides that, some keys on the keyboard don´t work, but it seems everything else is ok - works from power, battery, charges. etc.
I found the schematic here : https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubleshooting-hardware-devices-and-electronics-theory/troubleshooting-laptops-tablets-and-mobile-devices/schematic-requests-only/103715-dell-g15-5510-compal-la-k661p-schematics-and-brd-file...

hi, did anyone have the boardview for this? I have an issue with no power from usb-c and fans not going on. As such it starts from battery, gets warm and goes off after like a minute.

Re: MacBook Pro 15" 2017 A1707 Touchbar No power
hi,
Reflowed UB300.
UB300 is now reading 130 mA about.
UB400 has good readings on LDOs and no shorts but does not power on.
Perhaps it's poorly connected on the power lines or broken.
I tried to reflow it, no change.
the ports on the other side work too somehow, 130 mA about.
I suppose UB400 needs to come off again, but given that I have no reballed spare or reball solder, I have to leave it for now.
Unfortunately I...

Re: MacBook Pro 15" 2017 A1707 Touchbar No power
man, what a journey ! Could not get ub400 4th point to work. It came off eventually, but I had no reballing tools. Felt lucky, cleaned and fluxed and got it back on with all LDO readings between 0.45 and 0.49 now!
2 caps came off, took an hour to get back, but made it!
All excited, but this is the situation now:
Upper ubc-c port only went on in one plug direction - then it shows 5.19 volt, but now 0.565 amps ( was much lower before, like 0.015-0.150).
Felt that UB300 became warm, so it seems sometimes...

Re: MacBook Pro 15" 2017 A1707 Touchbar No power
I was a bit confused, but I think you mean CB306 because it is the LDOA rail?
CB305 resistance was very high.
I moved CB300 - it was replaced before - after that CB306 reading is better : 0.484 with diode mode on ldoa rail .
New diode readings:
ub300:
pp1v8_upc_ta_ldod : 0.443
pp3v3_upc_ta_ldo : 0.466
pp1v1_upc_ta_ldo_bmc : 0.471
pp1v8_upc_ta_ldoa : 0.487
ub400 after same treatment:
pp1v8_upc_tb_ldod : 0 - the cap cb405...

Re: MacBook Pro 15" 2017 A1707 Touchbar No power
Hi, thank you for the quick reply!
I measure about 0.9 Ohm in the beginning and then it slowly drops to 0 in about 20 seconds.
Measuring the ground pin of that cap shows 0 first and then goes up a bit.
bad cap ? Measuring in bleep mode gives bleep, so looks like a short on it....

Thanks for the help and the peptalk !
I have to say I love the learning anyway and to interact with the community like this, so I will try to keep it going .

Re: MacBook Pro 15" 2017 A1707 Touchbar No power
Hi,
Thank you, what should the readings be? can´t find it in openboardview.
I replaced it with a new one ( replaced it before but it looked bad )and now it reads 0.53 at both cc points.
Also, it boots with the plug both sides in now - but again to 5.2 V and no rebooting.
More interestingly, UB300 and UB400 side do not go on on any plug orientation now. They used to work both, where one only on one side of USB-c orientation.
The USB power meter I use inline does not go...
