Need help with Asus laptop

So, here's my story. My mom bought my nieces boyfriend a really nice Asus ROG gaming laptop. Well, a ram chip burned out and the dumb fuck abandoned it after the two split up. Now, I'm in town for my mothers funeral, and my brother in-law hands it to me and tells me that I can keep it if I can fix it. Contact with the kid has gotten me nowhere. I'm determined to get this thing operational and Asus wants me to send it in....

I'm stuck at the BIOS recovery password for 2016/03/16, any help would be greatly appreciated.
