just had one with the same fault. With the one i got the short was a cap that bridged the 3.3v and the 3.3vldo togther at the tas2557 ti 8ba6971 mono amp by the pwr connector. found by injecting 3.3v at 300ma n the ldo. cheep thermal imager and iso ftw....Leave a comment:

From what i can tell the ub2 1mb one is for the usb3 retimer
the uc704-uc703 8mb has the me and discriptor
theuc702 16mb has the uefi
depending on the fault i have had luck just doing the uefi 16mb chip but its usily best to do both the 16mb and the 8mb.
ignore the 1mb unless having usbc problems.
Im prity shure they combine the 8mb and 16mb chips.... i still dont know why they do it that way meby its cost cuttingLeave a comment:

Have a dead unit in atm... someone has done work to it and have removed replaced the bios chips and the ec. so not sure the state of this dump... this system seams to have a dead smc chip. this board dose not have the video chip populated

Heres a few I have. inc the chip by the lvds. i think that chip is for the thunderbolt.
some of my notes from a simmiler fault mention to clear the second pad file from the bios using uefitool.
i havent tryed the "GM501GS 313.bin" file. "GM501GS by chipset.bin" is from a laptop that dosnt charge battery's and sometimes dosnt post....Leave a comment:

I just rebuildt a V330 -14ARR bios that was powerd off during an update.
i got the bios update file and extracted the raw update files. i had to trim 2 of the pad files as they had extra updater crap in them the fist and last pad file.
Ill include the working file i rebuilt.
Your bios file is missing a pad file and i dont know how to add it. the update has 7 types in it and yours has 6. may be just version differences....Leave a comment:

So found out it wouldn't boot internal drive but a usb cdrom with Super Grub Disk would let me still load an os.
Downgrading bios to 1.2.8 and loaded each update to 1.6.1 seams to have cleared that problem.
Bios would take forever to load / get to boot, disabling tpm fixed this.
System would also not shut-down would just go black screen and stay on forever.
System would beep 2 short beeps randomly on reset / power on, would boot normal after bitching about ram changing.

So had a Alienware 17 R3 come in, would briefly turn keyboard back-light on then off, rarly it would turn on to a black screen and beep 7 times. Trying to use the hold esc and ctrl, plug in, power on recovery wouldn't do anything. Opend found 4 rom chips 3 1m and 1 16m chips.
uh4 had the bios and uefi stuff on it. grabed the bios from dell and extracted it using Alienware_15R2_17R3_1.2.8.EXE /writehdr. Using UEFITool, extracted the uefi image as is from the .hdr file it made and opend my dump, to replace the bios region as is. After re uploading...Leave a comment:

Id agree it looks low, so far only seen 3.3v at switches on laptops. I have had a few that if you hold the power switch for 20 seconds or more it will power off. Check that the kbc is getting the right power, the hp-pavilion-17-f103nr seams to use the same kbc, the schematic shows the power pins....Leave a comment:

Id look more into why the bios isnt getting its power, If its responding to the power button the ec is at least partially working, Since the bios isnt getting power it shouldn't be a bios fault. Poke around what switches the power for the bios or the regulator that provides it.Leave a comment:

I have seen a few computers with 2 bios chips, The bios file i found seams to be 4mb, I use uefitool to look around dumps. sometimes one chip only seams to have uefi stuff on it an other has the rest. The bios file i found (4mb one) seams to have only uefi stuff and not the bios or the me stuff. Id back up both of the chips and just try the 4mb one, I cant find anything from the 2mb one but it may have the rest of the bios on it.
